KTC graduates who successfully complete Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx) are eligible to apply for Ohio licensure through the State Medical Board. National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. The Nationally Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist (NCICS) credential represents an Insurance & Coding Specialist who has been certified by NCCT. 7 NURSE AIDE TRAINING Competency and Evaluation Program (NATCEP) Schedule: STNA monthly classes M TH 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm Saturday clinicals: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm PROGRAM COSTS: $640 PHLEBOTOMY Schedule: to T & TH 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Clinicals one 40-hr week in February/March PROGRAM COSTS: (All-inclusive): $1, hours (3 weeks) (Eligible for Adult Diploma Program) Basic knowledge and skills used to assist clients with activities of daily living, ethical foundations of care delivery, effective collaboration and working as a member of the health care team. After successfully completing the state-approved nursing aide training and testing program, nurse aides in Ohio are state tested through D&S Diversified. Both a written and clinical competency evaluation will be required. Completed Registration/Fee with $100 non-refundable deposit. (See page 24 for ADP). The minimum requirements for consideration in the program include: Negative 2-step Mantoux test OR result of a negative chest x-ray, physician release, maroon scrubs, white shoes and watch with a second hand, age 16 or older. The KTC Nurse Aide Training Competency and Evaluation program is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and approved by Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. 174 hours (about 6 months) (Eligible for Adult Diploma Program) Medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, blood collection equipment, additives, and order of draw, venipuncture and capillary procedures, professional manner and dress, etc. Certification(s) is available through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). The Phlebotomy Technician credential (NCPT) represents a Phlebotomist who has been certified by NCCT. Completed Registration/Fee with $100 non-refundable deposit, High School Diploma or GED (transcript see page 24 for ADP), Skill Assessment, BEST test is required prior to skill assessment if English is a second language. The minimum requirements for consideration in the program include: Interview with Coordinator, 3 references, BCI and FBI background check, physician release, current healthcare immunizations. The KTC Phlebotomy program matches requirements as established by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) and complies with competencies/essentials published by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). The program is also approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and approved by Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. 7
8 PRACTICAL NURSING Schedule: (12 months) to M F 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Schedule: (19 months) Starting September days week 8:00 am to 4:00 pm PROGRAM COSTS: (All-inclusive): $17,870 Financial Aid available for qualified students 1,340 hours (12 and 19 months) (Class, lab, clinical times may vary depending on term) Basic nursing knowledge and skills, sound clinical judgement, ethical foundations of care delivery, effective collaboration/working as a member of the health care team, medication and IV certification. Licensure is available through the Ohio Board of Nursing NCLEX-PN licensure examination. Individuals successfully passing the licensure exam become a Licensed Practical Nurse. The licensed practical nurse is legally responsible and accountable for knowing the legally-defined scope of nursing practice. Completed Registration/Fee (non-refundable), High School Diploma or GED (transcript), TEAS Test or ACT (within past 18 months), BEST test is required prior to skill assessment if English is a second language. The minimum requirements for consideration into the program include: Interview, 2 professional and 1 personal reference, BCI and FBI background check, physician release, current healthcare immunizations, NATCEP or STNA Certification (active) or documentation of equivalent experience, First Aid and Healthcare Provider CPR certification (active). The School of Nursing is approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the Ohio Board of Nursing and approved by Commission of the Council on Occupational Education. 9 LPN TO RN TRANSITION (New!) Schedule: to T-W & F 8:00 am to 4:00 pm PROGRAM COSTS: (All-inclusive): $18,459 Financial Aid available for qualified students 900 hours (12 months) (Class, lab, clinical times may vary depending on term) The LPN to RN program builds on the knowledge base of the Practical Nurse to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a Registered Nurse based on current standards, guidelines and competencies documented in the nursing and nursing education. The LPN to RN program is being established and implemented as a transition program which will award credit for the course work completed by the applicant during their PN educational program. Licensure is available through the Ohio Board of Nursing NCLEX-RN licensure examination. Individuals successfully passing the licensure exam become a Registered Nurse. The registered nurse is legally responsible and accountable for knowing the legally-defined scope of nursing practice. KTC cannot guarantee or imply the transferability of credit received from this program. We are currently evaluating potential articulation agreements and/or transfer options to assist the LPN to RN Transition Program completer on the pathway to becoming a BSN. REQUIREMENTS Completed Registration/Fee (non-refundable), official copy of high school transcript or GED certificate with scores, pre-entrance tests (fee covered in registration fee processes) with acceptable scores, ATI-PN Comprehensive Predictor (National Mean or greater) ATI-RN Maternal Newborn Nursing (Level II or greater), official transcript(s) for PN program of study and other course work being considered for transfer credit. (Note: Course syllabi may be required if through transcript course equivalency cannot be clearly determined). Official transcript(s) from a regionally and/or nationally accredited organization demonstrating a grade "C" or above in each of the following courses: Anatomy and Physiology I & II*, General Psychology, English Composition I, Algebra I, Microbiology, Human Growth & Development*, Maternal Newborn Care*, *Credit may be awarded through PN program work --determined through transcript/course syllabi review and/or standardized testing. Overall GPA of 2.5 or greater as determined through college and/or technical center transcripts current, valid, unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure in the State of Ohio, Current Medication Pass designation on LPN/LVN licensure (Note: IV certification as a part of licensure is NOT required). At least two (2) satisfactory references-- one (1) professional and one (1) personal reference. If English is second language, must take the BEST Test with Aspire program. The minimum requirements for consideration into the program include: Interview, 2 professional and 1 personal reference, BCI and FBI background check, basic computer literacy, physician release, current healthcare immunizations, NATCEP or STNA Certification (active) or documentation of equivalent experience, First Aid and Healthcare Provider CPR certification (active). 20 Aspire classes are FREE! The Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) program has a new name! On April 17th, 2017, the Ohio Department of Higher Education announced that the program will now be called the Aspire program. We provide academic support for those seeking their High School Equivalency Diploma, (GED ) transitioning to college or career tech trainings, English language acquisition, and seeking or retaining employment. Who may enroll in Aspire/GED classes? Aspire classes are FREE to all eligible adults. Students who are 16, 17 and 18 years old must have an official withdrawal documentation from their home school district or evidence of a high school diploma. What will I study? Most Aspire adults need to enhance math and writing skills. Each adult receives customized lessons specific to your needs. Is attendance required? Yes. Adults who enroll in Aspire classes are expected to attend classes whenever they are held. How long will the program take? It takes time to learn any skill, so the time depends on the individual. Students write their own goals and the Aspire staff members guide the students till those goals are met.
