5 Steps to Participate To participate in the commencement ceremony, the following must be completed: Petition for Graduation Complete the online ceremony registration form Pay the $40 mandatory commencement participation fee (nonrefundable) Order your regalia (cap and gown) from a CTC bookstore or online by the posted deadline Please note: Participation in the ceremony does not guarantee you have met all requirements for your program of study The commencement fee must be paid prior to the ceremony The commencement fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to participate in the ceremony

6 Online Registration Form Include the following: Student ID number Name of the program of the highest degree attained Phone number where you can be reached in case of emergency Any special accommodations needed Indicate if you are a veteran Authorizes the college to: Charge the $40 participation fee Acknowledges your responsibility to pay the additional and separate fee for regalia Use any pictures for CTC Marketing

7 Regalia Regalia sets can be purchased from the CTC Bookstore or online through Jostens for $38 + tax and include: Cap Gown Tassel Order forms can be found at Marietta, North Metro and Canton Bookstores. Visit the Commencement page on the website for online ordering information. Orders submitted after the Bookstore s deadline will incur a $25 late fee ($60+ will be total). If you don t order by the Bookstore s deadline there is no guarantee it will be here in time for the ceremony.

8 Regalia Continued Regalia packages will be available at the Bookstore where your order was submitted. The Bookstore will notify you when your order has arrived. Regalia is not available to purchase the day of the ceremony. Make sure your items fit before commencement day. Gowns look better without wrinkles. If you already have black regalia, it s not necessary to purchase a new set. CTC tassels can be purchased through the CTC Bookstore. Caps can be decorated in a tasteful manner that does not block the view of the person behind you.

9 Special Recognition Cords Honor graduates, non-traditional program students, military graduates and dual enrolled students will be recognized during the ceremony. Honor graduates: Students having a cumulative overall GPA of 4.0 (including all courses taken at CTC). Students are only eligible for honors recognition if earning a diploma or degree. All cords will be given out at check in on Commencement day.

10 Commencement Day Information Arrival time: All graduates must have checked in at the Clarence Brown Conference Center by 8:30 a.m. for 10:00 a.m. ceremony by 1:30 a.m. for 3:00 p.m. ceremony Late arrivals: Late arrivals will be added to the back of the procession line. We will accommodate to the best of our ability. Upon arrival: Parking is free of charge. Use primary entrance doors. Follow signs to the student check in area. Check in at the tables according to your last name.

11 Check-In Process There will be 3 check-in lines by alphabet. You will be given a name card, please keep up with it! Your first and last name listed in BannerWeb is the name that will be announced during the ceremony. Proceed to the auditorium and locate the chair that matches the number on your name card. Please note: if you have not paid your $40 commencement fee, you will not be able to participate.

12 Ceremony Prep The auditorium set up will match the ballroom set up. Each row will be led by a marshal wearing a gold sash. The marshal will be your guide for the ceremony. There will be a practice walk-through before the ceremony so that graduates know where to go and what to expect. Your tassel is on the RIGHT and will be moved to the LEFT once conferred. You may NOT leave the auditorium 30 minutes prior to the ceremony starting because we will start lining up.

13 Guest Seating and Tickets Tickets will be required to attend the ceremony and are free. The number of tickets each student is given will be determined after all registration forms are received. Once you have registered for the ceremony and paid your commencement fee, tickets will be sent to your student account beginning on April 27th, Number of tickets will be based on how many graduates participate in commencement. Seating for guests will not begin until an hour before the ceremony. 15 minutes prior ceremony all guests will be held in until the processional is completed. Seating for special needs guests is limited. Guests requiring ADA seating should arrive early.

14 Photography Grad Images is a professional photography company that will be present to take photos during and after the ceremony. A photo will be taken: Before you walk across the stage As you receive your diploma As you exit the stage Family members are encouraged to take photos throughout the ceremony. Grad Images will send the photo proofs to you via .

15 Diplomas Actual diplomas are not given at the ceremony. Participation in the ceremony does not imply nor guarantee completion of diploma/degree. All program requirements must be satisfied. Upon satisfactory completion of all program requirements, diplomas will be mailed to your address listed in BannerWeb in about 2-4 weeks following the end of your final term. Please make sure this is correct. Diplomas will have the name listed in your BannerWeb account.

16 Helpful Tips Wear comfortable shoes; there is a lot of standing and walking. We encourage you to wear all black clothing under your gown. Purses, coats, and other belongings should be left with family members. CTC is not responsible for items left in the auditorium. During the ceremony walk-through, please listen for important information that will help the you to know what to do. Cellphones should be on silent. Childcare will not be provided. As you celebrate this exciting day, please be respectful of those around you and the fact that this is a formal academic ceremony. Beach balls, air horns, and other similar distractions are inappropriate.

17 Next Steps Complete the Commencement Registration Form by April 22, By completing this registration form you are committing to participating in the ceremony and authorizing CTC to charge the mandatory non-refundable commencement fee. There will be no refunds. Pay the $40 non-refundable commencement ceremony fee at any campus Bursar Office or via your BannerWeb account. Please allow 2 business days for fees to show on your account after registration. Order and purchase regalia from the CTC Bookstore or online through Jostens. Please watch for an starting April 27, 2018 regarding tickets for Commencement. The number of tickets will be determined by the number of graduates that register to participate. Students that do not pay the Commencement fee will not be issued any tickets Pick-up your regalia from the CTC Bookstore that you have purchased it from.
