It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 1 st International Conference on Cancer Rehabilitation, Can Rehab A Multidisciplinary approach to commemorate TMC s platinum jubilee celebrations. The conference will be held at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. Cancer and its various treatments introduce a host of implications that negatively impact function. From the point of diagnosis throughout active treatment and for the duration of a cancer survivor s lifetime, there are short and long term risks for functional morbidity/impairment. Cancer rehabilitation is an important part of the oncology care continuum and involves an interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals. Interdisciplinary exchange, interaction and co-operation are the corner stones of optimal patient care. Educational opportunities that promote, inter professional learning and collaboration are needed to advance clinical and scientific research and its subsequent translation to clinical practice. The Can Rehab 2017 provides that opportunity by bringing together the various fields of rehabilitation medicine including oncologists, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, psychologists, rehabilitation nurses, dieticians, social workers and other allied health professionals. Key international speakers and participants will deliberate on these issues critically over 2 days of the conference on carefully chosen themes in the form of symposia, debates and special lectures. We are sure that the conference will be an academic feast and would appeal to all health care professionals involved in cancer rehabilitation. We look forward to seeing you in large numbers. Professor Jeff Dunn is the Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Council Queensland. Jeff also serves on the Board of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and is the Secretary and a Director of the International Psycho-oncology Society (IPOS). He currently serves, among other things, as an editorial Board member for Psycho-Oncology Journal and is also the Chair of the UICC s Asia Pacific Cancer Society Training Grants Programme. Professor Suzanne Chambers is a health psychologist and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. She is the Director and Menzies Foundation Professor of Allied Health Research in the Menzies Health Institute Queensland at Griffith University. 9 INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CAN REHAB 2017 encourages work that contains basic, clinical or translational research findings Presenting authors must be registered for the conference. Instructions for abstract preparation Abstracts must contain original data and meet international ethical standards All abstracts must be written in English. There are 2 modes of presentation: Oral Paper (Platform presentation) and Poster presentation. Please indicate whether the abstracts submitted shall be for Paper/ poster presentation. However the final decision to allocate an abstract to any type of presentation rests with the Scientific Committee. Platform/Poster presentation: Paper to be presented orally, with the help of slides. Eight minutes are allowed for presentation; two minutes are reserved for discussion. The total maximum time for presentation and discussion will not exceed 10 minutes. Abstracts Guidelines Word Limit: The abstracts should be within 300 words excluding title and references (maximum half A-4 size page) and the entire submission must fit on a single page. (Please Note: graphs / tables / images should not to be included in the abstract ) Font Type: Abstracts should be prepared in Microsoft word Arial, 11 point font size with single line spacing with the title in bold face. Researchers are allowed to submit more than one abstract as presenting author. It is the author's responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author. Do not begin sentences with numerals. Avoid abbreviations, unless introduced in the first appearance. Abstract Text (300 words) Abstracts for original research should be structured and organized to include the following: Objectives: State the main objective of the study Materials and methods: Briefly describe the design of the study, setting and how it was conducted Results: Present the main results with an indication of variability and precision of comparison where appropriate. Conclusion: Limit the conclusions to those that are directly supported by the results. Abstracts without results, or those with statements such as "the results will be analyzed and presented later" are liable to be rejected. Abstracts for Case Reports may be Unstructured. Please make sure that you anonymise (remove all patient details) from your abstract submission. Any abstract which has patient details included, either in text or, for example, on imaging, will be considered void and deleted from the system Type of Study Both case studies and original research may be presented for posters and / or free papers. However, for free papers greater weight age will be given for original research study.
