1 Course: NURS 210 Health Promotion Across the Lifespan Date: 5/12/14 Author: Janice Ferguson & Patricia Taylor Course Learning Report PROGRAM OUTCOME Evaluate nursing care based on the legal and ethical framework of the state in which they practice and the American Nurses Association Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics. Results: 100% of the students who completed the course submitted weekly reflection papers with passing scores on the rubrics for Professionalism, Safety, Mid-term and Final Clinical evaluations. One (1) student withdrew from course. Therefore, percentage of students passing rubrics was 96%. Rubrics were helpful in evaluating expected outcomes. Students recognized areas of weakness through selfevaluation. Students implemented steps to Use individual Student Success Contracts that align with the course Student Learning Outcomes in order to better promote student responsibility for own learning and practice. Student Success Contracts facilitated collaborative planning by instructor and student to assess areas of weakness, develop a targeted plan of action, implement, and date of reevaluation Schedule clinical days in LTC facilities. What: Identify roles and functions of members of the health care team in long term care clinical settings in order to provide comprehensive and collaborative care to clients. How: Learn about the roles and functions of members of the health care team through interaction and special laboratory sessions conducted by KCC allied health programs such as PTA, OTA, Exercise & Sport. Course curriculum was supported with the incorporation of interactive skills labs with the KCC allied health programs: OTA, PTA, & observation clinical days at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific.
