1 SANTA CRUZ COUNTY REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM MEDICAL OCCUPATIONS PROGRAM CBEDS Title: Medical Assistant CBEDS Number: 4242 Career Path: Home, Health & Recreation Course Description: This course is an introduction for high school students to scientific concepts, theories and skills development in the health care setting. The course extends one school year, and will be coordinated through Dominican Hospital, Watsonville Hospital, and Sutter Hospital. Students will participate in a combination of interactive classroom instruction, skills practice and actual clinical rotations in the hospital and clinical setting; i.e. laboratory, medical management, radiology, medical records, medical/surgical, birthing centers, ICU, CCU, emergency room and pediatrics. Curriculum will provide student with a global view of today s healthcare environment while exposing them to potential career opportunities and future options for career advancement and higher education.
