2 Specific Competencies and Skills Tested in this Assessment: General Office Procedures Greet and receive patients and visitors Place and receive telephone calls Take and record patient s statistical data and insurance information Schedule and maintain patient appointment Exhibit knowledge about managed care and referral forms Prepare and maintain medical file for patient s medical records Complete insurance forms, billing Maintain database of contacts, consultants, business services, licensing bodies, etc. Understand procedure and diagnosis coding Maintain inventory and stock control, ordering, etc. Assist with claims rejections Exhibit basic computer skills Understand basic transcribing skills Understand basic marketing skills General Laboratory Procedures and Diagnostic Testing Perform EKG test Assist in collection of specimens Prepare specimens for shipping Perform simple routine laboratory procedures, such as urinalysis and simple blood tests and cultures Operate centrifuge Perform visual acuity tests Perform test for color blindness Assist with audiometric testing Page 1 of 7
