2 Thank you for your interest in working at Water Meadow Surgery. I wanted to take this opportunity to explain a little about our practice and firstly provide a little more detail on this crucial and important position. RCPTIONIST ROL The role of the receptionist in a busy NHS general medical practice is not an easy one. However, it can be extremely rewarding for the right person. In applying for this position it is important that you understand that there are times when you will be very busy. The vast majority of our patients are friendly and appreciative, but there are times when one or two are not so friendly. Therefore, being able to deal with stressful situations while remaining calm and empathetic are essential requirements of anybody taking up this post. We are looking for a receptionist to work afternoon s five days a week (Monday to Friday) between 2.00pm and 6.00pm. We have to remain open until 6:30pm, but another receptionist is currently covering 6.00pm to 6.30pm. However, it will be a contractual requirement to stay until 6.30pm when the other receptionist is on leave. 3 TH PRACTIC TAM Reception We have four receptionists that work in the mornings (and busiest time) and three receptionists for the afternoon Doctors Partners Dr Neil Cooper Full time Dr Fiona Neale Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays Dr Rosie Shotts Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Dr Jeff Offside Tuesdays and Thursdays Dr Alexandra Murray Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Dr Helen Barnett Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays Dr Pippa Roberts Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays Salaried Dr Alice Neffendorf Mondays Thursdays and Fridays Dr Lotte Grant Mondays and Tuesdays Dr Shona Lockie Tuesdays and Wednesdays Nurses The doctors are supported by a small nursing team of four part-time nurses and an HCA. Nurse Louise Pearce Mondays Tuesdays and Fridays Nurse Jackie dmonds Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays Nurse Linda Hackett Tuesdays and Wednesdays Nurse Sarah ady Thursdays and Fridays Naseem Kiani HCA very morning Administration Steve Benjamin is the Practice Manager and the rest of the team includes an assistant practice manager, a prescription clerk, two admin clerks, and two part-time secretaries.
4 Premises The practice is located in the purpose-built two storey health accommodation built in 1995 close to the town centre, just off Red Lion Street at the rear of The Job Centre. There are 34 parking spaces to be shared between doctors, staff and patients. There is ample additional parking for patients in a nearby car park (200 metres). In addition the premises house a local pharmacy (Garlicks Chemist). The ground floor of the premises consists of the reception and seven GP consulting rooms and two nurse rooms as well as the pharmacy. The first floor is split into two distinct areas. The first houses three further consulting rooms and a waiting room, a pharmacy office, medical records and a small store room. The second area has offices for the practice manager, assistant practice manager, secretaries, general office a store room and a large meeting room. 5 Job Description Receptionist Water Meadow Surgery Designation: Accountability: Salary: Receptionist Senior Receptionist 8.43 per hour (paid monthly) after 3 months service (pay award pending) Hours: 2.00pm to 6.00pm (Monday to Friday inclusive) Holiday OVRVIW 20 days per year plus public holidays (1 st January to 31 st December) As a Medical Receptionist working in a fast paced team environment, the main focus of the role will be first point of contact, face to face with all patients. You will be responsible for answering the telephone and directing calls, booking appointments over the phone and face to face, greeting patients and providing excellent customer service. You must have an excellent telephone manner and customer service skills. Knowledge and use of computer systems would be an advantage/desirable, but training will be given. You should pride yourself on the ability to communicate effectively and professionally and be able to manage your own time to meet deadlines. You must be able to work at times in a pressurized and stressful environment. Be a team player, take and follow instruction. You will go through a full DBS Check if you are offered permanent employment at the end of your 12 week probationary period.
