1 Greetings from SAPNA. The monthly newsletter for month of Febuary, 2015 is as under: Our activities at JPN Apex Trauma Centre of AIIMS, New Delhi: SAPNA attended 27 Unknown patients during the month. Medicines worth Rs 71107/-- were given to poor, Unknown and unattended patients. 01 Wheel chair was donated to poor patient food coupons for Rs 25000/- were distributed to attendants of poor patients. 8 patients were dropped home by SAPNA workers. 1 unattended patient was handed over to his respected family. 1 patient was rehabited to Home for Sick and Destitute, Alwar. SPECIAL MENTION: FULL SUPPORT TO KIDNEY PATIENT BIRENDER DAS. Birender Das was suffering from kidney problem. When he came to SAPNA he was unable to provide for his family also. He was undergoing kidney dailysis. His monthly dailysis costed around SAPNA with the help of our donors provided support for his dailysis for several months. After dailysis when he had to undergo kidney transplant which was to cost around Rs. 6.5 lakh? Our social workers went and met the government officials and helped him in filling the application for assistance from Prime Minister s fund. With sustained effort an amount of Rs 4.5 lakh was sanctioned in favour of AIIMS, New Delhi. Social Workers of Sapna assisted him and his wife, who was the doner, during the transplant operations. Assistance was provided for special diet, medicine, bottled water and an amount of Rs 6000 per week was deposited by SAPNA with the AIIMS canteen for the purpose. Sapna made efforts and found a donor who was prepared to assist Birendra and his family for long duration. A donation of Rs per month is received from Mrs. Jolly
2 Sapra for Birendra Das. She has been generious to adopt Birender and his family in times of their grave need. Sapna assisted the family in settleing down, finding a job for Laxmi, advising Birendra to take up tuition for children of the area where they stay. Laxmi, wife of Birendra once came to the centre and requested assistance for going home. On enquiry it was learnt that she was going home to sell her only possession her house to repay the loan of Rs 40000/- that she had taken from her neighbour in the village and was paying an interest of Rs of Rs 4000/- per month. She was under intense pressure to repay the entire amount. Sapna worked to find a donor who could repay her loan. It was kind of Kanta Saluja Madam, who is our major donor for our kidney patients, to come forward to advance the money to repay her loans. The person who had given the loan was called from the village, fares paid for his journey to Delhi and the entire loan was repaid. Birendra on his part has promised to treat the amount his loan without interest and repay the amount in small instalments. The family has picked up the thread of their life and both Laxmi and Birendra are earning and happy. PATIENT CARE ON THE DAY OF HOLI On the day of Holi around 800 patients come to Trauma Centre, AIIMS. SAPNA staff takes care and provide full support to the doctors. Our staff works 24 hours on the day of Holi. SAPNA staff helps to clean the patients and wash of the colours. We also provide old clothes to the patients.
3 MAHULLUDIN Patient Mahulludin along with her husband came to us in the month of December. She had to undergo a heart surgery. They came from Bihar and they were totally unaware how to get the treatement done in Safdarjung. They were living at the pavement near Safdarjung Hospital. They were provided place to stay in Safdarjung Dharamshala. They were provided full support including shelter, food, clothing, medicines and treatment. Her surgery costed rupess 20,000. SAPNA provided support for her surgery. They stayed here for 3 months. After the treatment SAPNA gave them fare to go back to Bihar.
4 Our activities at Safdarjung Dharamshala, New Delhi SAPNA attended to 133 poor/ BPL patients including 30 cancer & 08 burn patients during the month. 126 kg flour, 129 kg rice, 60 packets of toast and 60 kg dal were distributed to the poor patients. 141 eggs for burn & cancer patients were given. Medicines worth Rs 22377/-was given to poor patients in SHD. 04 Wheel Chairs, 05 Walkers, 01 Commode chairs, 01 water matteress, 01 TLSO brace and 03 pair of crutches was given to poor patients. 18 units of blood were given to patients who couldn t find any donor. Patients were given financial assistance for 03 MRI, 14 X-Ray, 02 ultrasound & 01 CT Scan. Medicine worth Rs 25000/--given by other NGOs. 86 patients were shown in Safdarjung OPD by SAPNA social workers. 50 blankets and 50 quilts were distributed. 120 pair of old clothes was distributed. Rs 7250/--was spent on fare and other expenses of poor patients. NUTRITION ITEM MILK FRUITS LUNCH DINNER QUANTITY kg 614 dozen 1569 diets 909 diets WORTH Rs Rs 5585 Rs Rs Special Mention: 31 Special lunches were sponsored by our ambassadors at Safdarjung Hospital Dharamshala.
5 FOOD DISTRIBUTION Our activities at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi SAPNA attended 13 unknown and unattended patients during this month out of which 2 people expired; 3 patients were sent home and 1 was rehabitated to Prachayodhara Social Service Society, Jasola /- was spent on surgeries of patients by SAPNA /- was spent on surgeries by other NGOs. 20 OPD of poor patients was done. Rs 19631/- worth medicines were given to cancer patients by other NGOs. Our activities at Rajgarhia Vishram Sewa Sadan of AIIMS, New Delhi: 840 liters of milks was distributed to the poor patients. 6 OPD was done by our social workers. 240 packets of dry rations were distributed on Sundays to poor patients. Patient Raveena was given injections worth Rs 43000/- KIDNEY PATIENTS SAPNA gave medicines worth Rs 76306/- to poor kidney patients this month.
