10 History and Accomplishments CAPNETZ kick off patients were recruited and evaluated 63 papers were published with total impact of 257 (from this 35 basic sciences papers with an overall impact of 180) New German S3-CAP-guidelines were released very recently.

13 AIMs of the Symposium We need international exposure and we must discuss our German data in international context: 1. In terms of CAP-management (guidelines, scores) 2. In terms of pathogens and pathogen resistance as well as antibiotic use and misuse 3. In terms of pathogen-host-interaction (pneumococci)
