1 October, 2016 Orange City Area Health System / ochealthsystem.org Volunteer News A Message from Administration from Marty Guthmiller, CEO For over 22 years now, I have communicated to nearly every employee joining Orange City Area Health System the Do Right philosophy or principles. Simply put, they are: 1) Do the right thing, 2) Do it the best you can, and 3) Treat others the way you would want to be treated. I also mention that, by adhering to this approach, we are in fact defining the boundaries to the playing field within which each of you are free to play the game wherever you work within the system, and whatever your job is. These concepts of playing field and game infer another key concept team-ness. In our recent issue of Health Lines consumer newsletter, as well as in our Report to the Community (annual report), the concept of teams and teamwork are highlighted and emphasized. While these publications are largely for communication to the patients and families in our communities, they serve as an important source of information internally as well. They also allow us, particularly through the annual report, to reflect on the past year and set a course for the future. The emphasis on team, however, should serve as a reminder to all of us. Teamwork is vital. Every role within Orange City Area Health system is important whether in support of those providing direct care, or those directly interacting with people we care for and their families. Please take a moment to read these two publications and use them as a reminder of the type of culture we value dearly at Orange City Area Health System.
