1 Gulf California Broadcast Company Annual EEO Public File Report The purpose of this EEO Public File Report is to comply with Section (C)(6) of the FCC s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: KESQ-TV, KUNA-LP, KUNA-FM, KDFX-CA, KESQ-AM, KCWQ-LD, KPSP-CD and KYAV-LD is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on the station s website. The information contained in this report covers the time period beginning August 1, 2016 to and including July 31, The FCC s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information: 1. A list of all full time vacancies filled by the station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable period. 2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section (c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full time vacancy during the Applicable Period. 4. Date of station participation: September 15 th 2016 Participating employees: Catherine Ferguson, Andrew Uris, Celeste Gonzalez, Sergio Gutierrez, Bob Smith, John Hefner and John Gilhuly. Host/Sponsor of activity: Valley Wide Employment Expo. Brief description of activity and station participation: September 15 th 2016-For the past 21 years, Riverside County has provided businesses an opportunity to network and recruit qualified people for their hiring needs. They provide job seekers with an excellent opportunity to meet and apply with local employers. They are a Veteran friendly Expo and especially welcome Veteran job seekers and employers. Gulf California attended the event and was the main sponsors with a special booth. Jeff Stahl KESQ News Anchor hosted the opening ceremony and Gulf California provided broadcast airtime for the event this year.

Date of station participation: Weekly October 12 th 2016 thru 2017 Participating employees: Jeff Stahl-News Anchor Host/Sponsor of activity: Amelia Earhart Elementary School Dune Palms Road, Indio California. Brief description of activity and station participation: Jeff Stahl has a weekly workshop, volunteering at the Amelia Earhart Elementary School in Indio every Wednesday. He spends his time reading to children, practicing reading and comprehension skills and performing math studies. The message he wants to convey to the students is to work and study hard because a good education is important.

Nearly 800 members of the community including civic and business leaders attended to learn and network. Careers in broadcasting was also discussed.

Brief description of activity and station participation: Jeff Stahl spoke to students at the Indio s Desert Ridge Academy about the importance of studying and spoke on how he worked his way into a TV job in News. The students are part of the schools AVID program. The students are in need of encouragement to seek a higher education and opportunities. Jeff shared with the students his background and career history.

Brief description of activity and station participation: The News and Creative Services/Promotion departments have actively recruited interns from Colleges and High schools by using our local website, new career site, corporate website and sending out recruitment notices. Brief description of activity and station participation: We established a paid internship program for the summer, 3 years ago. We had one paid intern in Sales and one in News. The Gulf California Broadcast Company sales internship is open to currently enrolled college/university juniors, senior and graduate students. The intern must be currently enrolled in communications, Marketing, Broadcast Sales, English, A Professional Sales program, or related field. The News intern candidate must be currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from a program for Journalism, Broadcasting, English or a related field. During this period we the station had 2 interns.

Brief description of activity and station participation: The Girlfriend Factor raised money for scholarships to give to The College of The Desert Foundation at the Renaissance Hotel in Indian Wells California. Patrick Evans, News Anchor for CBS was the master of ceremony.

Brief description of activity and station participation: When the Trojan League Associates of the Desert held their 23rd annual scholarship luncheon Making Dreams Come True at the beautiful club at Morningside. The funds raised will become scholarships for the Coachella Valley students. Brooke Beare, News Anchor for KESQ TV was one of the featured speakers at the event.

Brief description of activity and station participation: Tim Kiley met on February 9 th and March 27 th, 2017 with students of the Della Lindley Elementary School. Tim had 25 students on February 9 th and 20 students on March 27, Tim discussed careers in broadcasting.

Date of station participation: October 19, 2016 Participating employees: Tim Kiley Host/Sponsor of activity: CAREER DAY AT ETIWANDA HIGH SCHOOL/Rancho Cucamonga Brief description of activity and station participation: Tim Kiley met with 3 different groups. By speaking to the students also enabled him to encourage them to pursue a higher education and hopefully persuade a few of them to join the Gulf California Broadcast family in the future. Tim discussed careers in broadcasting.

Date of station participation: NPG 2017 College Recruiting Trip Participating employees: Michael Fabac Corp News Director and Laura Clark VP of Human Resources Director Host/Sponsor of activity: College Recruiting Trips/Career Days, Arizona State and the University of Missouri Brief description of activity and station participation: NPG our corporate office has identified a list of potential candidates from this year s campus recruiting trips! They visited with students from Arizona and University of Missouri. We all received notes on each candidate and names of the interviewees to reach out to. They recruited for all locations in the NPG Network and discussed careers in broadcasting.

Date of station participation: December 3, 2016 Participating employees: Chris Tarpening, Photo Journalist Host/Sponsor of activity: Aptra Academy, Malibu, California Brief description of activity and station participation: Chris Volunteered as a mentor in the 3 day event training, aspiring journalist about real news scenarios and teaching them how to put a breaking news story together in the course of a couple of days.

Host/Sponsor of activity: Rae of Hope /Bianca Rae/Renaissance in Indian Wells Brief description of activity and station participation: The Rae of Hope Retreat created by the Bianca Rae Foundation and lead by the women of KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 continues to impact girls lives in the Inland Empire. This year, the 3 rd annual retreat was bigger than ever. Nearly 400 girls signed up for the retreat, many in groups from schools who organized the day as a field trip. It was inspiring and heartwarming. The stories these girls told their mentors would tear at your heart and lift you up at the same time. Bianca Rae has managed to find an untapped need in our valley. These children needed this and Bianca and her team delivered big time. The Rae of Hope Retreat is inspiring our youth in career opportunities in the future, branding for our next generation of news viewers and inspiring our youth in our community to be better people. They also discussed broadcast career.

They met with on air talent, anchors and reporters and were able to see how television and radio works.

Brief description of activity and station participation: On April 25, 2017 Nellie Coffman Middle School students came to our location for a tour of our facility. Tim Kiley led the group of student thru the news room to show how television broadcasting works on a daily basis.

Brief description of activity and station participation: Hernan Quintas brought Congressman Raul Ruiz interns in for a tour of our facilities. They met with our on air talent, anchors and reporters and were able to see how television and radio works.
