1 REVIEW 2015 ISSUE 02 RIDGE CELEBRATES 70 YEARS IN BUSINESS 1946 to Years in Business... 70,000 for Charity To celebrate the sinificant milestone of 70 years since Harold John Ride opened our first office in Oxford back in 1946, we are launchin a 12-month charity challene to raise 70,000 - commencin on 1 st January IN THIS ISSUE Ride now employs over 450 people in 10 offices across the UK, deliverin projects in over 75 countries worldwide and has established an international office in Shanhai, China. We are proud of this proress, which has seen Ride row into a top 25, award-winnin, multi-discipline property and construction consultancy. In today s challenin business environment, we achieve over 80% repeat business and continue to outperform many of our competitors. The key to our success over the past 70 years has been attractin and retainin the riht staff, which is all about havin interestin projects, stimulatin career opportunities and a reat team environment that creates a fulfillin, enjoyable lifestyle. 2 PROJECT UPDATES HOTELS Ride is assistin Soho House with the delivery of its most recent destination in the Oxfordshire countryside. The 100-acre estate offers members super-chic lakeside cabin accommodation, outdoor and indoor pools, floodlit tennis courts, stables, a cinema, crazy olf, 5-a-side football pitch and a winter ice rink. There are barns for winin and dinin, cowsheds for spas, and camps for children. (Pictured above.) We are currently commissioned by Firoka Group to extend and refurbish a lare hotel in London s Kins Cross, which includes a chane in the brand to Crowne Plaza. In addition, we are also appointed to the new-build construction of Hampton by Hilton in central Oxford. A new Premier Inn Hotel in Basinstoke was completed and opened in July. This 81 bedroom hotel, which incorporates a coffee shop and restaurant, is the first hotel scheme to be developed in the town for over 20 years and is the next step in the reeneration of the New Street area. UNIVERSITY FRAMEWORKS Appointed on the University of Oxford Estates Services frameworks for project manaement and multi-disciplinary services, Ride is involved in a number of schemes across the portfolio and projects include: Refurbishment of the manificent Mathematics Institute for the Department of Statistics. The new Ruskin School of Art, delivered on a very constrained site (pictured). An extension to the existin Centre for Innovation and Enterprise at the Bebroke Science Park. A new and innovative Social Hub at Kello Collee. Alterations to Grade II listed buildins for the relocation of Social Science departments. Laboratory refurbishment within the Robert Hooke Buildin. We continue providin cost manaement services via our framework with the University of Readin, a stron relationship that has run for over 29 years. Ride is deliverin a number of projects under the Southern Universities Construction Consultants Affinity Group framework for Bournemouth University, University of Chichester, University of Portsmouth, Southampton Solent University and the University of Winchester. A new marine basin, which will be home to several tall ships, will be surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars as well as contemporary apartments, 500,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office accommodation and a sinature hotel. In addition Mayflower Park, home to the Southampton Boat Show, will be enlared and enhanced. Ride has been appointed as an Enineerin Consultant for this multi-phase project, which will take about 8 years to complete. The Huh Baird Collee reacted by increasin its curriculum and consequently needs to improve existin teachin facilities. Ride assisted with the preparation of a Fundin Bid and is now proressin the project throuh to completion when the Collee will be rebranded as Port Academy Liverpool. We are providin services to Network Rail on a number of projects associated with the modernisation of the Great Western route. OPCC OFFICES CASTLE QUAY, BANBURY Scottish Widows plc is plannin to extend the existin Castle Quay shoppin centre in Banbury with a cinema, hotel, supermarket and restaurants. Ride is providin employer s aent, cost manaement, project plannin and principal desiner services for this proposed redevelopment. A refurbished Mottisfont Court in Winchester (formally occupied by Hampshire County Council) has been handed over to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wiht. The project was delivered as a desin and build contract via the IESE framework and Ride was appointed by Overbury to undertake the buildin services and structural desin. This will add 29 more people to the Ride team, takin us to over 450 stron which will further enhance our position in the UK property consultants market. Established in 2004, the CRE8 team is a dedicated roup of hand-picked individuals with a stron construction, commercial manaement and contract administration backround. Clive Humphreys and Paul Carr, who have a combined 50 years experience between them, will become Partners of Ride. The Manchester team provides project manaement, proramme manaement and strateic advice to property and infrastructure clients, deliverin a flexible impartial and intellectual approach to solvin problems that ensures successful outcomes. They brin an impressive portfolio of public and private sector clients and commissions across a diverse rane of hih profile projects across the UK. Their USP is the development, manaement and delivery of complex schemes that require the hihest level of control and leadership. New Partner, Stuart Brisbane, will spearhead our plans for rowth in Wales. For the last 26 years Stuart has been immersed in the Welsh Construction Sector and he brins to Ride a wealth of project manaement, strateic consultancy and client manaement experience. Ride has been appointed in collaboration with Apex Circuit Desin to produce the master plan for a major new motoracin complex in Arizona, USA. EE is modernisin it s UK stores and we are providin project manaement and health & safety advice for the roll-out of EE s Feel Connected proramme, which is expected to complete early next year. We have been selected by Blenheim Estates as the consultants to desin an extension to the Grade II Listed Cowyards which is home to our Oxford office. Ride undertook the desin works for the award-winnin conversion back in 2005 and the new office unit will be ready for our occupation next summer. Ride continues to support the John Lewis Partnership, providin development and project manaement consultancy to support projects such as the 850M redevelopment of the St James Centre in Edinburh.
