9 Research Promotion Cell (RPC): he cell is incepted after visiting UIUC. he aim of RPC is: o promote innovative and state of the art project ideas by UG students. o encourage researchers to pursue their ideas into prototypes. o encourage product development. o inculcate the creative minds ready for social-problem solving Presently around 35 different project ideas are endorsed by RPC. Research Grant of Rs Lakh for each for one year for prototype development. he funds are extended after reviewing the progress. I Silchar is coming up with a new idea of Funding Projects from any institute. BoG, I Silchar has approved the proposal and endorsed Rs1.00 C for first year. he projects will be invited from institutes across the country. valuated by a screening committee constituted by experts from reputed Institutes. he IPR and echnology ransfer, Patent etc will be full or partial modalities under process.

10 Collaborative MOU with University Library & Mortenson Centre of University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA: o facilitate the creation of a worldclass, innovative and flexible library system to enhance campus learning, support research, and provide community outreach and service at I Silchar. o create a orth astern Library etwork for sharing of e-content, resources & best practices.

11 - Indovation Lab Mission: o promote innovation and design in the country o promote innovative product development for social needs o initiate start-ups and endorse product ideas urturing creative minds of techies and entrepreneurs o be a unique platform where innovation meets design Skill development and creation of job through entrepreneurship Support: BoG, I Silchar has already approved Rs 1.00 C for Indovation lab -for lab development and start-up initiative Adviser, CM, Assam, visited the lab and appreciated SP, Cachar visited lab and extend their support. First automated light control to be installed at SP office, Cachar.

12 Innovation and Design in Curriculum: An Audit Course on Innovation and Product Design was introduced for UG and PG last year. A Credit Course Innovation and Product Design is introduced for PG students of M. he course is designed to promote Innovation and design among the students. he course is designed by Prof.. V. Deshpande, Professor in M & Director, I Silchar, in consultation with industry and academia. A Credit Course entitled as Design Lab is already introduced in 6 th semester UG lectronics & Communication ngineering to encourage students in lectronics Circuit Design

17 Skill Development : IS-CI (ational Institute of echnology Certificate in Information echnology) Course Objective: o up skill the rural and unskilled people with basic computer literacy Course Outcome: High expectation to enable them finding vocational and entrepreneurship opportunities by observing themselves in indispensable employability.

18 S K I L L D V L O P M Pine Apple Food Processing Unit: IS association with Barak Valley Pineapple Growers Association will open new avenues for skills development & generate employment opportunities in the entire region. Handicrafts Food Processing Units IS is aiming to develop a state of the art Pineapple food processing unit at Lakhimpur- renovate and reopen the closed factory.

20 G O I G Renewable Mission : R W A B L SSI Student Chapter MoU with MR IS conducted Solar raining in Guwahati- 3 villagers from Silchar were supported for training. Villagers became entrepreneurs in manufacturing a prototype.

22 A L R A I V Renewable Mission : Kitchen Waste Bio-Gas Plant: R G Y Kitchen waste of 500 capacity boys hostel-8 is used for Bio-Gas plant which is using for hot water generation.

23 L A I Silchar and C-DAC- Mohali collaboration: M D I C I o provide specialized health care services to the rural population in Silchar, Assam, C- DAC, Mohali is establishing elemedicine Consultation Centers (CC) at I Silchar & two villages on a pilot basis. It is proposed to establish CC at 3 locations namely Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (specialist node) CCHC, Babutilla/Madhutilla ukagram/bhanga (remote node) at Silchar.

25 ntrepreneurs from local village: Solar Water reatment Plant : ando and Khurmi of Madhutila Village is manufacturing a low cost solar water heating unit which is capable of producing c with 100L per day capacity. Solar ree- Inspired by Solar ree structure Prof V Deshpande, Director, I Silchar plan to implement a prototype unit at IS. Mr. ando of Madhutila Village is manufacturing a low cost unit with two PV Cells of 8W and is under field test with a DC fan connected to it.

27 Incubators & young echnopreneurs : Incubated at I Silchar Registered nterprise Pvt Ltd Company Registered under Amazon for online retail arned around 2L and got over 1500 orders Getting project from USA Working with a national level GO for their theme development and sharing online resources Venture Academy is coming up with a unique Comic Character to spread social awareness

28 - Indovation Lab Modalities of funding for start-ups: (proposed and under finalization) Funding of Rs 1 L for product prototype and business ideas Funding upo Rs 5.00 L for enterprise startups and product manufacturing Funding upto Rs25.00 L for potential start-ups with full or partial IPR protection and equity. Other modalities: Relaxation for innovators and entrepreneurs in academics with optional credit courses, attendance relaxation etc. Incubators are sponsored for attending workshops and other events Summer Industrial Internship for UG/PG students Any one students, faculty, staff, technical assistants and entrepreneur outside IS School Children (V to XII) to join Innovation Club. One hour on Innovation in every week to be attended by KV and other school children.

29 Difficulties faced: Lack of Proper ational Guidance for academic institutions to promote Innovators and Incubators Lack of recognition and rewards at different levels Lack of proper inter-network between institutes Lack of national level archiving of ideas and projects Duplication of efforts and miss utilization of time urturing innovators and incubators is a real challenge Availability of fund and resources Lack of Industries around geographical barrier
