3 MINUTES The meeting was convened at 9:05 AM. It was determined that a quorum was present. Addie Chattic volunteered to take minutes for this meeting. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Siegel motioned and Chattic seconded. The minutes were approved. Regional Meetings ICADV would like for the Training & Leadership Development Committee members to be present at each regional meeting to help with facilitation Correction: Only to be present or have program staff attending in a show of support. (2) Advocates attending the regional meeting will be co facilitating (as was done in the past.) It is not intended to be a presentation. The regional meetings will be for children s advocates and legal advocates and will be conducted in March 2013 and April The Committee suggested having Women s advocate regional meetings in FY14 since there aren t any in FY13. PAIP issues will be covered in the 2 Day National Training Conference scheduled for June 11 12, 2013 if IDHS allows funding for it. IDENTIFY TASKS TO COMPLETE, TIMELINE, AND ASSIGNMENT OF TASKS Sakolsky will contact advocates from each region to help with co facilitation of the regional meetings. Committee members can sign up for dates/location at next Committee meeting if all dates/locations are firmed up. Review FY13 Training Calendar The Committee reviewed the FY13 Training Calendar. Some dates haven t been firmed up for the Mt. Vernon and Springfield locations for Regional Meetings in March and April Those dates will be firmed up after 12/3/12. Sakolsky and Wilson along with advocates across the state have done the 20 Hour In Person Training for MEIHV four times since July The fifth 20 hour In Person training is scheduled for next week in Rock Island. Two of the 20 Hour In Person trainings were open to non MIECHVs in Northbrook and Rock Island. At this time, ICADV hasn t received a contract with IDHS so we do not know if IDHS funds will be allowed to be used for the 2 Day National Conference on June 11 12, There are two tentative PAIP Regional Meetings also on the calendar but if PAIP issues are covered at the 2 Day National Conference we won t have the PAIP Regional Meetings. There is also a tentative Train the Trainers 20 Hour In Person training but this could change due to IDHS funding. IDENTIFY TASKS TO COMPLETE, TIMELINES, AND ASSIGNMENTS 0F TASKS: Groves will update the Committee once we hear back from IDHS on funding and if the tentative trainings will happen or not. Groves will update the Committee once the Southern and Central Children s Advocates and Legal Advocates Regional Trainings dates have been firmed up for March 2013 and April 2013 after 12/3/12. Discuss 2 Day National Training Conference June 11 12, 2013 Call for Proposals suggested topics. Suggestions for keynote speakers have been identified by Smith. At this time, ICADV doesn t have a contract with IDHS so it is not known if IDHS funds will be used to help pay for this training. A Call for Proposals for breakout speakers will be ed out 1/2/13. The Committee reviewed the Call for Proposals document. Suggested topics are needed to give people an idea of what ICADV is looking for in breakout topics. Topics suggested by the Committee members under each of the four tracks as follows: Domestic Violence: Elder Abuse, Entitlement Benefits (TANF, Child Care, Medicare, Veterans, SSI), 3

Housing Issues: Emergency Solutions Grant, Communal Living Issues How to handle it with dignity (Bed Bugs, Lice, Scabies). IDENTIFY TASKS TO COMPLETE, TIMELINE, AND ASSIGNMENT OF TASKS: 1. Clarify the meaning of ACA under Administration topics. Groves will have at next meeting. 2. We need a title for the 2 Day National Training. Siegel suggested having a contest to select a name for it. Call for Proposals going out 1/3/13 so title must be named by then. Review administrative template for attaching ICADV CEU s to archive webinar catalog trainings. A copy of the form was provided to the committee. Groves has been archiving webinars and would like for people to send more information about archived webinars to her. IDENTIFY TASKS TO COMPLETE, TIMELINE, AND ASSIGNMENT OF TASKS: Committee members and others are invited to send information about archived webinars to Groves. Groves will start reviewing the archived webinars soon and figure out how many ceus can be earned for each one by length of time it takes to view each webinar. STRATEGIC PLAN PROGRESS AND UPDATES Review compilation of existing training for housing providers, including relevant laws. o Siegel will confer with Andrea about housing issues. Nowlan mentioned HEARTH Act and new HUD Legislation for supportive housing. o Send housing rules/leases to Groves Review any follow up from WOC committee on their training outlines/next steps on ours. o No update was given by Nowlan on this.
