2 About Us Central Florida Community Action Agency (CFCAA) is a private, nonprofit, community-based organization whose PURPOSE IS TO REDUCE POVERTY AND HELP LOW- INCOME INDIVIDUALS BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT in Alachua, Levy, and Marion counties.
3 Mission Statement Central Florida Community Action Agency is committed to helping people strengthen their lives through community partnerships.
4 Our Programs and Services Born out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and incorporated in 1981, CFCAA currently offers the following programs: Raising & Improving Self-Sufficiency Expectations Program Weatherization Assistance Program Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
5 The Promise of Community Action Community Action changes people s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
6 CFCAA Impact 2015/2016 4,921 families received utility assistance to prevent loss of electric or gas service.
7 CFCAA Impact 2015/ clients obtained certificate/diploma or completed post-secondary education program.
8 CFCAA Impact 2015/ clients and their families were helped to obtain or maintain stable & affordable housing.
9 CFCAA Impact 2015/ CFCAA partnered with other agencies or organizations during the year in order to provide our clients with access to a wide range of supportive services.
10 CFCAA Impact 2015/ clients and their families received transportation assistance to attend school, interviews, or work.
11 CFCAA Impact 2015/ homes were weatherized, resulting in an average reduction of 15% in their heating & cooling costs.
12 CFCAA Impact 2015/ youth received Summer Program Scholarships to maintain skills learned during the school year.
13 Our Board of Directors It is a requirement for Community Action Agencies to maintain a tripartite board of directors representing the Public, Private and Community (low-income) Sectors.
