3 HISTORY AND PROFILE The Wests Centenary JRFLC committee includes the following representatives. Elisha Neither Facilities owned/leased and Council Authority In 1988 there was no rugby league played in Brisbane s Centenary Suburbs. The Primary Schools at Jindalee, Middle Park and Jamboree Heights played soccer or Aussie Rules Football and the nearest junior rugby league clubs were Inala, Souths at Acacia Ridge and Graceville at Tennyson. The club s first sign on day was in 1989 and held at the Middle Park State School which was also to become the club s first training venue. The club had 5 teams in the first season from the U7 to U17 age groups. In 1990, the club adopted the motto Our Kids Come First and has aimed club policy at fulfilling this over the years. The club aims to develop children s individual and team skills in a friendly, safe and fun atmosphere. 4 ABOUT THIS PLAN REVIEW OF PREVIOUS STRATEGIC PLAN A review of the previous strategic plan was conducted to provide guidance on preparing the current plan. Some of the items from the previous plan will be continued on as part of this plan. ABOUT THIS PLAN This strategic plan has been developed with the assistance of the Brisbane City Council through the Community Sports Grants Program for organisational development. The plan will map out the future direction of the Wests Centenary Junior Rugby League Football Club for the next 5 years. It recognises the need to consolidate resources and proactively pursue common objectives that build on the organisation s previous successes and deliver on new outcomes that ensure sustainability. The plan provides a framework to guide decision-making that fosters capacity and capability building and p outcomes for the future. This plan was developed in consultation with key stakeholders including club committee members, as well as taking into consideration the aims and objectives of Brisbane City Council, the Queensland Government, the Queensland Rugby League and the National Rugby League. 6 7

5 MISSION STATEMENT The Wests Centenary Junior Rugby League Football Club is a western suburbs family club for all junior and senior rugby league competition. We aim to provide all members with fair competition while emphasizing fun and enjoyment while teaching children individual and team skills. The club s motto is Our kids come first. VISION Our vision is to become a club of choice within our local community and be recognised as an awardwinning club that enables our community to live healthier and happier lives through participation in rugby league.
