The main aim of this program is to improve the accessibility and quality of internship placement for international students and to facilitate the acquisition of professional experience through vocational training and traineeship. The aim of this project is to improve the capacity of National Occupational Health Office (ONMT) of Mauritania and its dispensaries in the field of OSH and is to improve OSH legislation structure in the country. 55 SESRIC Developing the Capacities of the Africa City of Technology of Sudan Reverse Linkage Project Diverse IDB, TUBITAK MARMARA TECHNOPARK (MARTEK), ULUTEK TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT ZONE (ULUTEK), TIKA, THE AFRICAN CITY OF TECHNOLOGY (ACT) Sudan The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the efforts of the Sudan Government in developing capacity of Africa City of Technology (ACT) in technology incubation. The main outcome of the project will be having an incubation center and techno-park model, including the competent human capital, which will contribute to the scientific advancement and economic growth of Sudan. In order to reach that goal and outcome, ULUTEK, TÜBİTAK and MARTEK of Turkey will provide knowledge, expertise through the training and supervision visits. The IDB and SESRIC will support the project financially, provide technical facilitation and monitor the activities for project execution and follow up. 56 SESRIC Seismology, Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management for Afghanistan Programme Diverse JICA, ITU, TİKA Afghanistan Overall goal of the training project is to equip engineers from Afghanistan with the key knowledge on how to effectively reduce the earthquake risk in their home countries and how to effectively manage the potential natural disasters. 57 SESRIC The Bina Initiative Initiative Diverse LPRD and IDB Libya The BINA Initiative is a human development program that aims to help Libya, as a fragile state, to overcome the current challenges of the state and most importantly rebuilding its human capacity and institutions on foundations of professionalism, efficiency, transparency and good governance.

7 58 SESRIC SEED for Inclusive Growth Programme Diverse IDB, TIKA, UNDP IICPSD, World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists (WCMP) Palestine The objective of the initiative is to increase job and livelihood opportunities for the disadvantaged, including migrants and refugees, through leveraging the role of markets and the private sector in skills development. Among the considered countries, Palestine was selected for the initiation of the pilot of the programme. The first phase in Palestine will empower 600 beneficiaries and out of which a minimum of 500 will be engaged with entrepreneurial and employment opportunities. 59 SESRIC Capacity Development of the Cotton Development Board (CDB) of Bangladesh Reverse Linkage Project Diverse IDB, TİKA, YTB, THY, Government of Bangladesh Bangladesh The project aims to increase the capacity of Cotton Development Board (CDB) under Ministry of Agriculture of Bangladesh by implementing the following activities; improving the skills of existing and newly-hired staff on research and production practices of cotton, enhancing the research environment through renovation of its buildings and acquiring new digital devices and improving IT infrastructure thorough upgrading IT equipment for research centres and sub-centres. 60 SESRIC Assistance in Earthquake Seismological Research by Using Pakistan Seismic Data Reverse Linkage Project Diverse TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, IDB,TIKA Pakistan The project aims to enhance Pakistan s capacity in detecting and monitoring earthquakes and assessing their risks. The project was designed to make significant changes in the PMD s capacity in terms of infrastructure, systems and human resources. It will introduce three new areas of knowledge, namely the GPS, site classification and the establishing GIS database. It will also strengthen the PMD s seismological research knowledge. This will enable it to produce timely information on earthquakes, undertake accurate assessment of earthquake risks and better inform other organizations about those risks. TUBITAK Marmara Research Centre of Turkey will be the provider institution which plays an essential role in Turkey s ability to deal with earthquakes and Pakistan Meteorological Department will be the receipt institution at the project.
