7 Silver An example of a European PCP Project The SILVER project searches for new technologies to assist elderly people in their everyday lives by using a Pre-Commercial Procurement process Budget 2,150K, funded by the European Commission under the 7 th Framework Programme(FP7) Started in January 2012, for 56 months March2013-aninternationalPCPcallwasopened Partners in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom. The consortium includes research institutions and public sector organizations 7

Involvement of different stakeholders Oncology Societies (Galician Oncology Society), Oncologists, MINECO, Industrial Association (ASEBIO), Innovación Department, Legal, Tecnology Evaluation, Ethic Comittees(CEICs), etc. Issue an open Call for Tenders by a ContractingAuthority, tocompetetowin a PCP Framework Contract.

10 Industry Competing in 3 Phases Phase 1 (opened to 8-10 companies) - 1 month. Each supplier explores the feasibility of their innovative ideas, adapting the solution to the needs of Oncology Galician s Services. Selection of 3 companies Phase 2 (opened to 6 companies) - 6 months. Completion of the prototype development. Selection of 2 companies. Phase 3(opened to 4 companies)- 6 months. Suppliers develop their small-batch production of products/services.
