CITIZEN January 2011 Allie Waste Services to Deliver FREE Polycarts to Joplin Househols Taking out the trash may no longer be the reae chore of househols by the en of January. It coul be easier because only one trip to the curb (or alley in some cases), shoul be neee with the new 96 gallon polycart each househol will receive from Allie Waste Services, Joplin s resiential trash service provier. The Joplin City Council recently passe a change to the soli waste agreement with Allie that inclues resients using roll-out carts for trash. Allie will eliver 96 gallon polycarts to every living unit insie the city limits unless a request from the resient is mae preferring the smaller 65 gallon polycart. Cart elivery starts January 17, an will take approximately two weeks to eliver to all in Joplin. Resients may begin using the carts as soon as they are istribute. Resients are aske to place all of their trash (except bulky items) into the cart. There is no aitional charge for the polycart. Other noteworthy items inclue: Allie s thir-party contractor will eliver the polycarts along with instructions an a toll-free customer service telephone number. Aitional trash set next to the polycart will be picke up at no charge by the river. Aitional polycarts will be issue for free on an as neee basis an etermine by Allie. Physically impaire customers (who o not have an able-boie person living at the house) will be given a 65 gallon polycart an will continue to have their trash picke up at their oor instea of the street/alley. If the resient is physically unable to place the trash in the cart, the Allie river will place the trash in the polycart. To be place on the special pickup list, resients or their representative may call the City at , ext FREE 96 Gallon Polycart provie via Allie Waste Service to Joplin househols Polycarts shoul be place at the curb, away from vehicles an mailboxes in a manner that the arm of the automate truck is able to grab the polycart. (Cart has irectional arrows.) For resients with existing alley service, their polycarts will continue to be service in the alleys. A front-loa truck will be use instea of the new automate trucks. Polycarts will remain the property of an be maintaine by Allie. If a polycart becomes amage, stolen, or missing, the resient shoul call Allie customer service. The polycart must stay with the property if resient moves from that location. Bulky Items will continue to be picke up at no aitional charge by Allie, however the resient will nee to call customer service prior to trash ay so a non-automate truck can be ispatche. If 2011 is similar to years past, we will witness a positive energy throughout the community. In 2010, many contribute to Joplin by supporting various events such as Boomtown Days an 3 r Thursays. Some attene meetings or complete surveys to voice their opinions about City services, or partnere in community cleanup work by volunteering for the Great Day of Service this past September. It is evient that when people get involve, positive things happen. On February 10, the Joplin Regional Airport will welcome a new commercial air service. American Eagle, the regional carrier for American Airlines, will offer two flights a ay to Dallas/Fort Worth (D/FW) at competitive prices with other airports in the outlying regions. In a recent stuy of people who fly to an from this area, they inicate their esire for a service that provie better connectivity at afforable prices. Basically, they wante a legacy carrier that flies into a large hub that can offer numerous flight options to other parts in the Unite States, as well as the worl. 4 Parks an Stormwater Improvements Benefit Citizens With the sunset of the Parks an Stormwater Improvement Sales Tax looming in 2012, the City Council has begun iscussions about the renewal of this ¼-cent tax. Voters passe this sales tax in November 2001, an the citizens have seen a lot of improvements in these past years, sai Joplin Mayor Mike Woolston. The Council will be appointing a Citizens Task Force to review the nee for a renewal, as well as to prioritize improvements ientifie by our various sources, incluing the public. If the temperature of any non-shelf-stable, potentially hazarous foo item excees 45 egrees Fahrenheit for more than a two hour perio, the prouct shoul be ispose. If the temperature of any non-shelf-stable, potentially hazarous foo item excees 45 egrees, an you cannot etermine how long the prouct has been above 45 egrees, the prouct shoul be iscare. Frozen foos that become thawe, but remain below 45 egrees Fahrenheit pose quality concerns, NOT public health concerns.
