4 is the funding available from any other source? - l Kl Ves?coirzrtl Qpu BIGSTONECREE NATION What are the benefits to the Communityand /or Members that this proposal will provide? It will give students the motivation to excel in their studies and in their attendance. As a result, will increase their education and promote well-being and a sense ofpride in their accomplishments. They willalso have the opportunity to see other indigenous youth excelin their communitiesand what other youth are doing to make their communities better and to give them the motivation to finishtheir education and pursue a Post Secondary Education. What research and or studies have been completed to determine the needs that this proposal will provide? The attendance and drop-out rate within first nation communities is fairly high. Spoke to Junior and High school students, and they have stated there is no incentive for students after they leave Grade 6. Nothing for them to look forward to and work toward. Number of Post Secondary applications received by Bigstone Education Authority is minimal and that is due to the fact that High school graduates do not have the proper courses or grades to get into their Post Secondary programs, resulting in having to upgrade; and there is no funding available for academic upgrading.
