4 The University University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was formed through the merger of Swansea Metropolitan University, Trinity University College Carmarthen and University of Wales, Lampeter. Last merger completed by 1 st August Next merger by 2016/ Royal Charter - third oldest Royal Chartered University in Wales and England, after Oxford and Cambridge; focus on employability and applied research, with a portfolio that complements Swansea University Patron (from 2011): HRH The Prince of Wales Dual Sector Group Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion are wholly owned FE Colleges Turnover of circa 110m; 25,000 learners
5 Progress since mergers plus campuses in Cardiff and London Increased turnover, from 18m to 110m Significant investment - 40m in Swansea to date ( 30m spent in Alexandra Road; 10m committed to SA1 so far) Focus on the creative industries: S4C HQ will move to Carmarthen by 2018 Partnership with Welsh Government MoU signed 5 th February 2015 Focus on Swansea and City Bay Region: collocation and partnership opportunities to complete the development of the SA1 Waterfront

Build on the partnership with Welsh Government to support the diversification of income streams 5. Establish a significant University presence in the SA1 Waterfront area to achieve the necessary critical mass by September 2018
