Part of a strategic collaboration between Halliburton and the SEG Foundation since 2014, EVOLVE provides unique learning projects in an interactive, non-competitive team environment that fosters global participation. EVOLVE is delivered through the cloud which provides a unique virtual learning experience. The projects require analysis and application of geophysical/seismic, geological, petrophysical and petroleum engineering data and software technology, such as Halliburton s DecisionSpace Enterprise platform, to support integrated reservoir management, problem solving and decision making. The SEG EVOLVE program offers students direct experience in conducting multi-discipline subsurface integration projects using actual seismic, microseismic, wireline, core, production and other types of data. Project management, teamwork skills and business values are honed within the context of exploration, reservoir appraisal, field development planning and production enhancement scenarios. SEG will recruit 10 university-based teams to participate in the 2018 session. Throughout the year, cloud-hosted resources will be available to participants of the EVOLVE program including an online repository for data, software, workflows, and training materials and an online forum that facilitates team discussions with peers. Additionally, technical mentoring will be facilitated either online or in-person. Teams will have an option to present their results at the 2018 SEG Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA, USA in front of industry experts and their peers.

2 Who can participate? Students and university-based teams are welcome to apply. In 2019, the program will open applications for early career professionals and companies. EVOLVE seeks geophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers, petrophysicists and rock physicists. Is this a competition? No. This is a collaborative program and we strongly encourage teams to interact and engage with other EVOLVE teams. Every team will however receive feedback, provided by technical advisors and geoscience professionals. How do you apply? Please fill out the online application by 15 December What are the requirements for a team to participate? Each team will recruit its own advisor, preferably based at its university. In addition, the SEG will assign a coach who will interact regularly with the team to provide technical guidance. The SEG will also identify subject matter experts in various areas as resources for all teams. As this exercise is designed around teams and not datasets, the exact makeup of any one team is not prescribed by the SEG. Individual and team participation is not country dependent - team members do not have to reside in the same city or country. Below are guidelines for technical skills suggested for various team members: Geophysicist seismic interpretation, well synthetic/well tie, seismic stratigraphy, seismic modeling Geologist seismic interpretation, well log correlation, stratigraphy, basin modeling, well log interpretation Reservoir Engineer decline curve analysis, recovery factor estimation, porosity and water saturation cutoff analysis, project economics Petrophysicist well log interpretation, lithology determination from log response Rock Physicist generate rock physics models, establish relationship between P- impedance and rock/fluid properties, conduct AVO analysis Note: One team member may be responsible for a few technical tasks, as well as 2 or more members may work on one technical subject.

3 How many people should participate in a team? The minimum number of participants is 3, maximum of 6. Individual and team participation is not country dependent - team members do not have to reside in the same city or country. Can individuals participate? Yes, individuals are welcome to apply. Depending on the needs of other teams, individuals may be assigned to a team. 4 Will I have help using the DecisionSpace software? All participants will have full access to the training videos and help modules offered by ienergy, the platform that hosts DecisionSpace. Additionally, participants can chat live with Halliburton support staff. If further support is needed, help will be provided. What locations may apply this year? The following locations are accepted for 2018: Australia China Europe North America Russia South America Southeast Asia Case by case basis - contact Andrew Geary: Middle East North Africa Not covered in 2018*: India Sub-Saharan Africa Access to cable/hardline internet required. Individual and team participation is not country dependent - team members do not have to reside in the same city or country. * Due to limited access to cloud-based software, we cannot accept applications in these locations. Please check back in Can I donate my open dataset? SEG welcomes donation of any datasets where the rights to redistribute the data are given to the SEG. Minimum datasets include post stack 3D seismic volume and wells (locations and basic curves). Additional data is welcomed including monthly production, core, pre-stack seismic, 4D seismic, microseismic, near-surface, GPR, reflection/refraction data, resistivity datasets, shallow water well data, etc.

EVOLVE stresses multidisciplinary and collaborative learning. The program establishes real-life experience in a non-competitive learning environment. In addition, Halliburton will provide software accessed via the cloud to facilitate learning. EVOLVE Datasets will include exploration, production 4D-reservoir monitoring, conventional and unconventional. IBA Projects are exploration centric and teams are limited to only the data provided within the assessment area. 3-6 month time frame 8 week time frame, set up within course at university. Can access software prior to competition for use with public datasets. Non-competitive, no tight deadlines Set up to be fair and competitive Multidisciplinary - geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, rock physicists; collaborative learning Teams typically consist of 4 geologists and 1 geophysicist

6 Halliburton s DecisionSpace Enterprise platform will be provided to the teams via the cloud. Access to online software training modules will also be provided as well as live chat with Landmark support. Access will be provided to additional online training via SEG. Initially open to university students, but the plan is to extend EVOLVE to include early career professionals in Access is provided to AAPG Datapages and the teams can request free license access to the following software: Schlumberger, Paradigm, Hampson Russell, HIS Kingdom, Ikon Rokdoc, LMKR, OpendTect, Palisade, Platte River Associates, Seis Ware.
