2 OCS Strategic Plan: Approved February 11, 2014 GOAL 4: WISE STEWARDSHIP THROUGH PLANNING, GOVERNANCE, FUNDING, AND MARKETING PLANNING Action 1: System-Wide Planning The OCS will conduct an annual, data-supported analysis of each school to detect trends and, where necessary, to undertake proactive remedies that will strengthen the mission and the sustainability of all schools. Task 1: Consulting key stakeholders and national models, the OCS will leverage existing data sets to develop indices of vitality that measure the vitality of Catholic schools, collect uniform data on these indices from all schools, and establish benchmarks for sustainability.

4 Indices of Vitality The Seattle version of the Indices of Vitality was developed from the National Indices Model shared by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati showcasing financial Indices only. 5 Preface and Purpose To provide a centralized service to all 74 schools by generating an annual Indices data report. OCS wants to fully support you as school leaders. To use uniform and common data points to indicate stability and sustainability. To develop an annual report that is userfriendly, demonstrates data collection efficiency, and reflects the data points that are relevant to monitor and track the wellness of a school. To develop a culture of data analysis with collaborative stakeholders to study each school and offer feedback and guidance for the future well-being of each school. To develop and model an intentional, on-going commitment to proactive local, regional, and archdiocesan planning.

6 Executive Summary page 1 The Executive Summary is designed as a back-to-back summary sheet which provides a quick visual snapshot of key data points or watch fors for each school. Current Data Sources: Fall and Spring Data Collections data creeping - self-reported data. IOWA Testing Consortium Database CSED - Catholic Schools Employee Database Level I Elementary Schools annual.80 program roll-up data through PFS. GOOD NEWS: OCS has already secured most of these data points.

7 Executive Summary page 2 Academic Assessment IOWA Testing Consortium Currently, the ISL B-3 template is the format selected to convey student testing information. The OCS is highlighting the School % of students scoring at or above the 50 th percentile. Composition of Student Population and Faculty Annual breakdown reflecting October 1 st NCEA census count. Pie charts provide quick visual perspective.

8 Indices Compliance Data Please note: Pages 3-6 contain the supporting data points that build the Executive Summary. Compliance Data Reflects 5 Key Themes from Strategic Plan: Catholic Identity and Faith Formation, Academics, Ethnic and Diverse Learners, Governance, and Finance. 32 Compliance indicators are organized to secure a default response: YES! Weighted Compliance Indicators A = 20 Essential Compliance Indices pay close attention B = 12 Related Compliance Indices may be helpful to monitor/track pattern NA = used as a placeholder as select indices may not currently be available or applicable. Scoring: Each December, the Indices of Vitality data will be studied by the OCS. Reports from the study will be shared with School Leaders in January to begin dialogue, analysis, and planning.

9 Indices - Benchmarks 25 Benchmarks reflect the 4 Goals of Mission Catholic Identity and Faith Formation Academics Accessibility Finances (Wise Stewardship) The Indices of Vitality reports will have two versions: Elementary version High School version Academics section: Student Performance Indicators for Math and ELA are now included in the Elementary version. Each Data Point gives % or actual numbers. NA used as a placeholder not available or not applicable at this time. indicates No Rubric.

10 Supplementary Data Longitudinal Testing Data for Grades 3 8 Currently, highlighting 2 core curriculum area using grade level equivalent scores: Language ELA Math OCS Rank - local grade level ranking within the testing consortium schools. This practice is already in place and serves as internal information for the OCS and the local school s data team. Religion chart is a placeholder at this time but could be organized in the same format. Local school enrollment chart reflects trends over time in relation to the region, the Archdiocese of Seattle, and national (NCEA) enrollment data.

During the first year of implementation, input from school leaders will be considered to refine the rubric ranges.
