11 Founding member of Tyrewise Working Group Actively involved in the project, providing insight into ELTs from a manufacturers perspective. Managing Director in Australia involved in the Australian program which is being developed. Looking forward to a marketplace with strong demand for ELTs taking into account all current businesses operating. As we are a business focused on minimising waste to landfill and improving environmental performance it is our current policy to recycle all ELTs wherever possible. 11

Value Tyres has taken responsibility for the tyres coming into New Zealand in the following ways: Eliminate wastage by sending trained inspectors overseas to hand select for no visible defects and high tread that can compete with cheaper Chinese tyres. Pressure test all tyres using electronic sensing machinery (these have been extensively modified to suit our requirements). Auto deletion of tyres not required for NZ market. Stringent programme for waste. 18

19 Stewardship a collective responsibility Value Tyres is committed to the Tyre Industry and as such has made the commitment to support the initiative via Tyrewise with respect to industry standards. Value Tyres believes it brings to the initiative knowledge of the local market, it is a New Zealand owned independent with a diverse customer base, with a belief in value for money and affordability for the New Zealand consumer. 19
