Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI As part of the 2013/2014 SEP program with a nominated supplier, we have a standard agenda item at our 6 weekly meetings to discuss the 'board used to manufacture the shippers' and 'to explore alternatives'. A point of discussion is to understand the 'level of recycled material in our shippers'. KPI 7: % signatories showing other Product Stewardship outcomes. 24. Our Working Towards Zero Waste to Landfill program has been rolled out and performance against required targets is reviewed quarterly. For 2013, the Australian division achieved a 3.2% reduction in Waste to Landfill / Ton of Production versus 201
5 25. Since the beginning of the reporting period, has your company had any other outcomes related to product stewardship? If yes, please give examples of other product stewardship outcomes Through the use of the Colgate-Palmolive Product Sustainability Scorecard, together with the application of the SPG principles for all Go-To-Market initiatives, we constantly challenge our thinking on the use of reycled contents. Through our Supplier Enhancement Program we are systematically working with our suppliers of packaging components to investigate options of reducing packaging while maintaining performance. 26. Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI Other initiatives that have been undertaken at our manufacturing facility since the commencement of the reporting period include : Water Harvesting Project, progression of Top 10 Energy Actions, refined recycling: on site recycling of all timber, replaced single use rags with disposable wipes, paper towels have been replaced with new roll units reducing cost and wastage, canteen food scraps are recycled through an on site worm farm, all green waste is chipped on site. KPI 8: Reductions in packaging items in the litter stream. 27. Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI 8 [KPI 7 & KPI 8] Identify opportunities to improve sustainability of each manufacturing location, by adding Sustainability to regular site management forums. This will include reviews of site waste management, litter reduction, and consideration of participation in local community litter reduction campaigns. Target : Regular leadership team discussion. Sustainability is an agenda item of manufacturing site leadership forums. Sites are able to quantifiably report on site waste management. Inhouse, we focus on minimising litter through house keeping initiatives. A project worthy of mention undertaken in the reporting period is the defaulting of printers to double sided and black and white printing. We are able to show quantifiable data supporting a reduction in the number of reams of paper used. 28. Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI Formation of a joint cross-functional committee charged with addressing APC actions will allow Colgate-Palmolive Australia to increase our involvement in community litter activities. Your Experiences This section lets you share with us any achievements, good news stories and areas of difficulties in making progress against your plan and the Covenant goals and KPIs. 29. Key achievements or good news stories We have cemented the process of assessing each new development to the extent that it is available prior to director approval. This allows the sustainability impact of the product to be considered in parallel with commercial imperatives. The regular Supplier Enhancement Forums consist of management representatives of both supplier and Colgate- Palmolive, making it a forum that is able to set direction on the use of recyled material and efficient packaging designs options. 30. Areas of difficulties in making progress against your plan, Covenant goals or KPIs The absence of a cross functional team charged with APC actions meant that while goals were being achieved the opportunity to widen the intracompany scope for involvement was being optimised. This team has now been formed and will be reporting to senior management on its progress.
