The Cognos tool is used to report against data entered into InfoEd. 4 Course ID: Step 3: Select Report Package InfoEd Reports currently represent all the reports available for InfoEd. In the coming months, other applications will also have a package, e.g. PeopleSoft and Budgeting. Also, notice the drop-down may contain the recently used package. 4

6 Course ID: Cognos Query Toolbar ICON MEANING DESCRIPTION ICON MEANING DESCRIPTION Model Collection of metadata items used to create Aggregate Adds a summary calculation to the footer of queries. selected columns. Can be applied to Cognos Connection Namespace Grouping that contains related query subjects and other objects (e.g. filters) Calculate numerical and text items. Creates a new report item based off of selected items. For example you can add two dollar amounts together or concatenate multiple text field columns into one. Query Subject A grouping of related query items. Chart Converts your query into a selected chart type. Query Item The metadata column used in a query. Drill Down Drill down to underlying detail in hierarchies. Fact Item Numeric data that can be calculated. Drill up Drill up a level with a hierarchy. Cut Removes an item from report output, commonly combined with paste to shift report columns. Related Links Drill through to related reports for more information. Paste Pastes an object before the selected report item. Group Group query items in a list report to remove duplicates. Delete Removes an item from your report. Ungroup Ungroup query items in a list report to show duplicates. Undo Undo changes Create Sections Creates a section header with grouped items appearing below. Redo Redo changes Pivot(Create Crosstab) Creates a crosstab by placing the selected items in the crosstab columns. The Run Report Filter Sort Cognos Connection Runs report with the default HTML output. (Other outputs can be selected with the Run Report link.) Filters specify a subset of data for a report to retrieve. Any data that does not meet the criteria is excluded. Sorts selected columns in ascending or descending order. Swap (rows / columns) Collapse remaining items appear as rows. Swaps rows with columns in a crosstab report. Hides all non-fact columns from the report and shows totals associated with your query. Expand Un-hides all non-fact columns that were removed during a collapse. Will return you to Cognos Connection Return Will Return you to Package selection 6

16 Course ID: Saving Reports Users will be able to save reports from query studio to the folders in Cognos Connection. They can be saved for personal use or to share with other users with access to Cognos. The following are options for saving reports. To save a report for your own use My Folders To save a report to share with other users.. Public Folders InfoEd Reports School Users Scratch To save a report to share with other users as Read-only...Public Folders InfoEd Reports School Users Scratch Then.. Submit a request to HELP DESK (1-help), the report will be moved to FINAL REPORTS as read-only * OSR/ASRSP have a separate Scratch and Final Reports folder 16
