3 1. COMPETITION 1.1 Description BAC 2018 is an Architecture and Design competition that allows the students to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their own academic path. It will be proposed as an one-day workshop, which topic will consist on the realization of a project for the city of Turin. During the competition the participants will work in Teams composed by 3 people. On the nexts days a jury will evaluate the projects giving a ranking. The jury will be composed by delegates of the companies involved on the realization, members from Opera Barolo, professors of the Polytechnic of Turin and selected members from association. 1.2 Location of the event The competition will perform on saturday 10th March 2018, from 8:30 to 18:00, with a intermediate breaks and one hour for lunch. The event will take place in the I classrooms of the Polytechnic of Turin, provided with drawing tables. 1.3 Promoter organization is a non-profit and non-political student organization. Since 1989 it strives to help students to develop capacities to work on an international basis and to offer high quality services for students all over Europe. Thus, BEST manages to bring closer all the partners in the "student - company - university" triangle. 2. APPLICATIONS TERMS 2.1 Applicants The competition will be accessible to all the students of Architecture, Design and Engineering faculties of the Polytechnic that will present an application request. There will be around 120 groups for near 360 participants. All the applicants must be enrolled on a full time or part time career at Polytechnic of Turin. The students involved in Erasmus or other kind of International projects (UE or extra-ue) could participate only if are enrolled on the current academic year Torino, Italia 3

4 2.2 Establishment of teams The teams must be composed by 3 (three) members max. Every team could be mixed and composed by Bachelor and Master degree students. Every applicant can decide to participate in a group or casually assigned in a team by the organizers. If a participant wants to create his/her own team, he/she has to fill the form on the website with the name of the other two preferences. Organizers can t ensure the creation of the team correctly if there are more than 2 preferences not corresponded in the form filled by the applicant of the ideal team. Participants who want to enroll individually, must accept the team established by the organizers. If a member of a team misses the competition day, the association could reform the team at its own discretion. The team is indivisible and a member cannot join another team. 2.3 Incompatibility of applicants The people that CANNOT participate in the competition are: The Project Managers of the event; The BOARD and representatives of the association ; Design students who are joining the academic introductory Workshop (from 5th to 9th of March 2018) The jury members and their associates. 3. ENROLLMENT The enrollment will be done exclusively through the website: The application period will be from 2nd February 2018 to 7th March If the number of applicants is higher than the places available in the workshop, the priority is to the people who will deposit the fee in the BEST Office in Piazzale Sobrero, Corso Duca Degli Abruzzi, 24 in the Main Campus of Polytechnic of Turin. The enrollment is completed only after the compilation of the form online and the deposit of a 10 euro fee. The enrollment entails the agreement with all the rules presented Torino, Italia 4

5 3.1. Teams enrollment Every participant must deposit a 10 euro fee, that will be returned after the competition if the participation really happened. The organizers will establish specifics days and times for the restitution of fees, the information will be communicated on the Facebook event and by and after the competition. The restitution of fees must be requested ONLY in the specific days transmitted, displaying the receipt (received at the moment of the deposit), and an ID card or the student card. The restitution of a fee could be delegated but the delegate must show to the organizers the receipt and the ID card or student card of the delegant. The fees cannot be given back in days that are not communicated by the organizers. If a participant is enrolled but he/she doesn t take part to the event, he/she cannot have back the deposited fee. The fee must be deposited in the BEST Office in Piazzale Sobrero, Corso Duca Degli Abruzzi, 24 in the Main Campus of Polytechnic of Turin until 8th March In the case of the impossibility to go to the BEST office, the applicant has to advise the organizers sending an to bac18.bestorino@gmail.com until the 16:00 of the last day for the enrollment. 4. PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECTS 4.1 Valid amount of proposal Every team must present only ONE proposal before 18:00 of the competition day. The delivery process will be communicated during the competition day. 4.2 Language The description of the projects could be done in English or Italian. Projects description done in other language entails the disqualification from the competition of the group. 5. RESULT AND PRIZES 5.1 Evaluation criteria The evaluation criteria that will be taken into account are: Originality Design Technical feasibility Torino, Italia 5

6 Economic feasibility Practicality 5.2 Results The winning projects will be announced during an award ceremony that will take place on a specific day and place that will be communicated to all the participants by and on the Facebook event. 5.3 Prizes The members of the winning group will be awarded with: The realization and installation of their project. (1st place only) 6. RIGHTS AND DUTIES 6.1 Winners The winning team must complete the project until the final realization and put effort into following the company guidelines. In the case that the team is not interested in the finalization, the prize will be moved to the team placed on the second place at the ranking. 6.2 Release for Photographs Agreeing with these rules, every applicant permits the publication of his/her own pictures made by our official photographers in every communication media utilized in activities linked to BAC, BEST Torino and the Partner Companies. 6.3 Release for Agreeing with these rules, every applicant permits the dispatch of informative and promotional materials about the competition, association and their partners.
