2 The purpose of the Native American and Alaska Native Children in School (NAM) program is to award grants to eligible entities to develop and enhance capacity to provide effective instruction and support to Native American students, including Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Native American Pacific Islander children, who are identified as English learners (ELs). The goal is to develop English proficiency and proficiency in Native American languages while enabling them to achieve the same challenging State academic content and achievement standards for all students. The Chef Ann Foundation has teamed up with Skoop, a superfoods company committed to bringing the health benefits of superfoods to every American. Together we have launched Project Produce: Fruit and Veggie s for Schools. These $2,500 grants assist you in expanding your students palates, and encouraging increased consumption of and exposure to fresh produce through engagement in lunchroom education activities that encourage students to taste new vegetables and fruits offered either in a dish, cooked, or raw. The goal of Project Produce is to provide funds to support the food cost of these activities which are designed to touch every child. Offering these events to all kids whether they bring or buy lunch requires additional funds. Project Produce grants can help you fill that gap.

While the Foundation commends organizations that provide soccer programming abroad, we do not support such organizations financially through our Annual s cycle. Urban areas often lack available space for children to play outside. In order to provide an opportunity for all children to play soccer, we have taken on the task of providing children across the nation with places to play. Our Safe Places to Play program provides grants to organizations to help them build or enhance a field space in their communities. The purposes of this scholarship are to provide financial support for (1) completing credited course work in the history of mathematics or the design and implementation plan for a personal study program with a focus on some aspect of the history of mathematics, (2) creating and field-testing appropriate classroom activities incorporating the history of mathematics, and (3) preparing and delivering a professional development presentation to colleagues. 20 Lowe's Small s Program Source: Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation Min: $ Max: $2, Quantity: Unknown The Foundation provides funding only to 501(c) (3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations and public agencies in communities where Lowe s operates stores and distribution centers. Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation requires that all applicants take an eligibility test. Organizations that pass will be considered, but not guaranteed a grant. LCEF receives far more requests than it can accommodate. Many times, requests that pass the eligibility test and fall within the stated guidelines are not approved. s generally range from $5,000 to $25,000. Larger amount requests will be considered, but are seldom awarded. The Foundation will reserve the right to consider an organization's grant application only once per calendar year. The small grants program is an outlet for organizations seeking smaller-scale assistance for non-educational focused projects. These grants range from $100 to $2,000. Small grant project requests must also fit within the Lowe s Charitable and Educational Foundation guidelines. These requests are received on a rolling basis, with no specific cycle dates. Please note that grant funds are distributed as Lowe s gift cards.

There is just one application form for both multiple salad bar and single salad bar package requests. The food services director for your district is the required contact person for the application. Please see our FAQs if your school does not have a food services director. Eligibility Is your district ready to implement salad bars as part of your reimbursable meal program? To qualify for a Let s Move Salad Bars to Schools grant you must offer the salad bar as part of the reimbursable meal served in your district. The 6-foot, five-well salad bar package is for locations that serve at least 100 reimbursable meals daily. Providing healthy eating opportunities for kids in schools is imperative. Today, the U.S. has more than 38,000,000 primary school children, and according to data from The Center for Disease Control and Prevention: Obesity prevalence among children and adolescents has almost tripled since 1980.

31 Approximately 17% (12.5 million) of children and adolescents ages 2 19 years are obese. Obese children and adolescents have a greater risk of social and psychological problems, such as discrimination and poor self-esteem. Obese children are more likely to become obese adults. Adult obesity is associated with a number of serious health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. One out of every three Caucasian children and one out of every two Hispanic and African American children born in the year 2000 will contract diabetes in their lifetime. Our goal is for every school in the United States to have a salad bar as part of their school food service program so that every child from elementary school, to middle school, to high school has daily access to fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy proteins. 32 Middle School Math PD s from the NCTM Deadline: May 6, 2016 Each year, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics provides grants to classroom teachers. This award supports middle school teachers in their pursuit of math PD experiences. Funding can be used to pay for honoraria, consultants, materials, substitute pay, and conference and workshop registrations. This is one of several NCTM grants due by May 6. Prize: s are available up to $4,000. Pets in the Classroom s Classroom pets make wonderful learning companions! Educators interested in funding a classroom pet should consider a Pets in the Classroom grant. They are available for K-8 teachers in public and private schools. s are "intended to support pets or aquariums in the classroom" and facilitate learning projects centered on caring for pets responsibly. Prize: A variety of small one-time grants are available, including awards for supplies. inspired Changemaker s from Facebook Deadline: April 25, 2016 From organizers: "We want to highlight and celebrate the inspiring work taking place in high schools today. We re asking teams of educators and students to work together to create positive climates in their schools - and then share their stories with us. We ll review the stories and feature the most inspiring school teams on the inspired website." To participate, teams of educators should work with students on a project for making a more positive school climate. These projects must be implemented before the end of April, and educators should take notes, photos, and videos throughout the process.
