13 Group Formation Only SMTP students in group 3 members per group Preferably a mix of talents: IT, able to speak Attitudes of members: common interest, committed, responsible Science and DS students can start forming their group; maths students to form their groups during math research session, with consultation with Math teachers.

14 Choice of mentor Should be trained in the field/subject of your interest or Should have sufficient professional network to source for external consultation / collaboration if necessary. Should have adequate time for you. Active in external competitions. Need not be your subject teachers.

20 Singapore Science & Engineering Fair held in march anually for sec 4 & JC1 students rigorous judging one of the most prestigious science fair Many categories (bio, chem, phy, math, IT)

21 Greenwave Environmental Care Competition Held annually registration in march, submit report in july for sec 3 & 4 students Focus on creativity, impact on environment Projects can be of any discipline or interdisciplinary Attractive prizes (1 st prize = $6000)

22 Shell Science Fair Held once in 2 years Registration in feb, submit report in april, presentation in May if shortlisted for S2, S3 and S4 students Many categories (bio, chem, phy, IT, Maths)

24 School-Based SMP Held annually for sec 3 IP/SMTP students For science projects carried out in schools, mentored by school teachers
