1 Anti-Bullying Week 2015 Competition Information As part of Anti-Bullying Week (16-20 November 2015), NIABF is holding a competition for young people across Northern Ireland, on the theme: What Bullying Means To Me Bullying can happen anywhere and to anyone, in lots of different ways. It could be in a physical place, such as the playground, the classroom, the lunch room or in the park. Or, it might take place in the cyber world, on social networking websites, through online games or by text message. No matter where or how it happens, we all have a responsibility to make it stop. We re asking young people to think about what bullying is all about and what it means to them on a personal level. Think about the words and phrases, the images and pictures that come to mind when you hear this word. Categories There are three categories for entry. Art This can include posters, drawings, paintings, sculptures or photographs. Anything which you think of as art can be entered, but we are really keen to see how creative you can be. Creative Writing This could include poetry, short stories, diaries, songs and scripts. Anything up to 500 words will be accepted! Movie

2 This can be scripted dramas, documentaries, advertisements, music videos, animations, presentations or anything else you think of as a movie. As long as it s no more than 5 minutes long, we ll watch it! Who can take part? The competition is open to all children and young people up to the age of 19 years old in full-time education in primary, post-primary or special schools in Northern Ireland. Entries can be submitted through any school, youth group, sports clubs or any other organisation you attend that has registered to take part in Anti-Bullying Week If you re not sure, show this page to your teacher or youth worker. For the Art and Create Writing categories only individual entries will be accepted. For the Movie category group entries (up to 5 people per group, all in same age group) will be accepted. All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry form, which can be found at the end of the booklet. The competition will be judged in 3 age groups: Junior under 9 years old Intermediate 9 13 years old Senior 14 years old and over This is based on your age on 16 November 2015 (the first day of Anti-Bullying Week). Young people with a Special Education Need (SEN) can chose to have their entry considered for an additional Special Merit Prize.

3 How to Submit Your Entry All entries must be submitted with the accompanying entry form. Art If it is possible to send the original piece through the post then please do so. Otherwise, please send photographs of the piece stating on the entry form that it is the piece in the photograph that is to be judged, not the photograph itself. If shortlisted for a prize, the judging panel may want to view the original, therefore please keep it in a safe place. Also, please make sure that your name, age and the name of your school/group is marked on the back of your entry. Creative Writing All entries must be either typed or clearly written in black ink, and be no more than 500 words in length. Please submit entries on single sided A4 paper, with all pages securely stapled together. Your name, age and the name of your school/group should be on the back of each sheet. Alternatively, entries can be ed, as attachments, to info@niabf.org.uk. Movie All entries should be in MP4 format and compatible with Windows Media Player. The total length of the entry must be no more than 5 minutes and should include a credits page giving the names, ages and school/group name of all the members. This can be submitted by post on a USB memory stick or DVD. Alternatively, entries can be ed or shared via an online hosting agent (eg. Hightail, DropBox, etc.) to info@niabf.org.uk. All entries must be your own original work. This means entries must not contain any logos, symbols, characters, passages from other texts or any other material not created by you. Any entry found to be a copy of any other material will be disqualified. PLEASE NOTE NIABF is unable to return any of the entries submitted for this competition.

4 What will happen to the entries? A winner and runner-up will be selected from each group in each category. All prize winners will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony, to be held during Anti-Bullying Week. Winners will each receive a certificate and a goody bag, including shopping vouchers. A number of special merit prizes may also be presented. Please note that the judges decision is final. A number of the entries may be selected to be exhibited, including online, during Anti-Bullying Week.
