The sophomore had eight assists and seven goals along with four ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover. In a 14-9 win at then-no. 19/20 Rutgers on Apr. 30, Oliverio had four goals and three assists. Her goal with 22:29 left in the contest proved to be the gamewinner. In a 19-6 win at Villanova on May 2, the midfielder tied her own school record with five assists. She also scored three goals against the Wildcats. It was her third game this year of five assists. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Caitlin Formby, Georgetown Senior, Goalkeeper Formby totaled 21 saves in a 2-0 week for the Hoyas, including 14 stops in a 10-9 win at then-no. 9/9 Syracuse on May 1. The win gave Georgetown the BIG EAST regular-season crown outright. In a overtime win against then-no. 13/13 Loyola on April 28, Formby made seven saves. The senior also collected three ground balls and two caused turnovers last week. Formby is the first Georgetown player to earn a BIG EAST Player of the Week award this year. The Hoyas (11-5 overall, 8-0 BIG EAST) won the BIG EAST regular-season title for the ninth time in school history after last week s 10-9 win against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. Georgetown finished the regular season unbeaten in BIG EAST play for the seventh time in 10 seasons, but will look for its first BIG EAST tournament title. The loss for Syracuse (12-5, 6-2) sent the Orange into a tie with Notre Dame for second place in the BIG EAST standings. The Irish (11-5, 6-2) will be the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Championship by virtue of their April 11 win against Syracuse. Loyola (11-6, 5-3) will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament as the Greyhounds make their debut in the BIG EAST Championship. 5 2010 BIG EAST Wo m e n s La c r o s s e Re p o r t 2010 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP The 2010 BIG EAST women s lacrosse championship is a four-team single-elimination tournament. The top four teams, seeded according to Conference game winning percentage, qualify for the championship. Rutgers University located in Piscataway, N.J., will serve as a first-time host for the championship. It will be the fourth BIG EAST women s lacrosse championship overall. In addition, it is the first year all three games of the BIG EAST Championship will be televised live on national television. The CBS College Sports Network will broadcast both semifinals live on May 6, while the title game is set for May 8. Jebb Chagan 2010 NCAA Division I Wo m e n s s La c r o s s e Ch a m p i o n s h i p The winner of the BIG EAST Championship receives the league s automatic bid to the 29th annual, 16-team NCAA Division I Women s Lacrosse Championship. First-round and quarterfinal games are held on the campuses of participating institutions in a single-elimination format. The 2010 national semifinals and championship games, will be hosted by Towson University on May 28 and 30. Last season, Syracuse, Georgetown and Notre Dame were each selected to the 16-team field. Looking ahead, the NCAA also announced that the 2011 Championship will culiminate May 27 and 29 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on the campus of Stony Brook University. It will be the 30th women s lacrosse championship.
