Next Coalition Meeting - Wednesday September 28, 2016 at 3 p.m.- City Place Welcome, Introductions, and Announcements - Introductions - FSU Foundation Opportunity Grants Awarded in July (saturation TIP Hotline and Parent Handbook - September 2016 police patrols FSUPD 106 hours for $3, and Frostburg City Police 104 hours for $3, Coalition door hanger bags Bags with our logo containing brochures about Off-campus Living, TIP Hotline magnets, and our new I Live Here Too campaign are being distributed in the University neighborhood by various student organizations. On-campus bags are being distributed at Edgewood Commons and the residence halls. Each bag will have a brochure entitled Bobcats On-campus and the I Live Here Too campaign (Distributed on August 31 st ). - The search for Lyndsey s position ended Wednesday August 24 th with 30 applicants. Several promising candidates have applied and the search committee will review scores on Thursday, September 1 st and decide who to interview (Five candidates will be phone interviewed on Wednesday, September 7 th and two candidates will be selected for on-campus interviews). Jeff advised that anyone on the Coalition could participate in the interviews by contacting him for the specific information. - Volunteers were secured to work our coalition table at the Frostburg Block Party on Wednesday September 7 th from 6:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. - Law Enforcement Appreciation luncheon was Thursday, August 4 th in the CCIT building at FSU. Officer Bill Laramee from the Amherst Police Department in Massachusetts attended as a guest speaker and spoke about community policing and managing large crowds. - The Liquor Board compliance recognition breakfast was in CCIT at FSU on August 15 th. Jeff provided a brief presentation on our Cooperating Alcohol Agreement. - University has hired a new Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Carl Crowe. - First student message sent to college students on community expectations, along with I Live Here Too image on Wednesday, August 31 st. - Chief Smith reported on a law enforcement partner meeting with the Sheriff s office and the District Court judges on August 18 th. 1

Strategies: Prevention, Engagement, and Deterrence Approach Strategy Point of Contact Updates and Progress AlcoholEdu for high school and university Ashton DeWitt AlcoholEdu was launched by the University in August. 737 have completed Part I. Deadline for completion is September 13 th. Prevention Ashton will work with Mr. Morgan to schedule AlcoholEdu for high school students for later in the year during Health classes. Prevention Social Marketing Campaign -Talk they hear you -Above the Influence -PWH -The Real Deal -Reality Check -Parent Mailers Ashton DeWitt (Posters and Billboards) Joe Caporale (Radio) Liz Medcalf (Media) New billboard will be considered during the fiscal year. I Live Here Too campaign launched in the University neighborhood. Door hanger bags were purchased from the Caporale Group. The Reality Check website will be updated by Ashton. The Real Deal will be facilitated at MRHS and the middle schools this year. 2

Brief Alcohol Screening Intervention College Students (BASICS) Don Swogger Don will continue BSI with high-risk students screened through the judicial process. Prevention 3

4 The Real Deal Program Presentation Gene Morgan The Real Deal will continue with new coordinator. Mr. Morgan advised the new principal for Westmar Middle School is Stephanie Weslowski and Marty Crump remains as principal of Mt. Savage Middle School. Prevention FCC Info Community Tables Ashton DeWitt Gene Morgan Ashton will work out the sports schedule with Mr. Morgan. 4

5 Engagement Cooperating Alcohol Agreement (CAA) -TIPS Training -Social Marketing Lyndsey will continue to work under a contract for the University to offer TIPS for On/Off Premise (RBS) training to retail outlets. Lyndsey recently trained BURG Peer Educators. September session will be scheduled. TIPS for the University April Baer recently trained 29 resident assistants. Engagement 5

6 Student Messages First message sent on August 31 st using the I Live Here Too message of community engagement. Deterrence Knock and Talks Scott Donahue Knock and Talks began at the beginning of the semester. 6

7 Law Enforcement Summit First summit was on August 4 th. Officer Bill Laramee from Amherst Police Department spoke on community policing and dealing with large crowds.
