This is your opportunity to network with industry professionals and learn about new programs and tools that make our jobs so interesting. TNGIC continues to provide activities, workshops, and reduced-cost training classes. The social event on Tuesday night will be held at the beautiful Tennessee Aquarium. Our two keynote speakers are from two very distinct backgrounds. Dr. David Maidment, University of Texas at Austin, respected around the world as a leader in water resource modeling and hydrology, will provide us with insight to the current efforts nationwide for hydrologic modeling, while Mr. Lee Wetherington of Goldleaf Technologies will inspire us with motivational stories and anecdotes about technology. Our theme this year is What s your Point? This echoes the nature of the GIS industry with the explosion of online mapping applications, which have pushed all GIS users into the main stream. GIS is no longer a science that is hard to explain to your family members, it is now used by millions worldwide from buying real-estate to saving lives. This year s program features presentations that highlight local, regional, statewide and federal programs. We are also including an education track that will provide you the opportunity to review some of the new and exciting tools that help us reach our goals. Through the TNGIC Scholarship program, twenty deserving students were awarded conference registration scholarships to attend this year s conference. On behalf of the 2007 Conference Committee, I would like to thank everyone for being a part of this community. We all hold stock in the future of promoting and educating younger generations about the value of GIS. Sam Moffat, TNGIC President

2 Conference Agenda Page 2 Conference Highlights Board of Directors Election Three new members will be elected this year to fill spots vacated by board members whose terms have expired. Please take time to review the nominee profiles included in your registration packet and vote. All ballots must be received by the end of the Tuesday afternoon break at 3:30. Poster Contest Your registration packet includes a ballot for the Viewer s Choice award in the Poster Contest. Be sure to visit the map exhibits located in the vendor hall (Exhibit Hall C) Business Meeting & Committee Meetings The business meeting on Wednesday morning will outline the year s accomplishments as well as look ahead to the goals for the coming year. Board election results will also be announced. The business meeting and committee meetings are important opportunities for every member to participate and offer feedback, so be sure to attend. Tennessee Aquarium Social Event Join us on Tuesday night for an exclusive evening at the world class Tennessee Aquarium, which will include a dinner of heavy hors d oeuvres and drinks. Take your time to roam free among the aquatic wonderland. Extra tickets for friends and family can be purchased for $20 each. Speakers & Paper Presentations The registration packet includes a listing of abstracts and presentation topics for many of this year s speakers and panel members. The conference agenda is outlined in this program on pages 4 and 5. Exhibit Hall Vendor participation is a vital part of every successful conference. This year we have over 30 vendors exhibiting. Please make time to visit Exhibit Hall C and thank our vendors for their support. TNGIC is also very excited to offer exhibitor hall attendance to all attendees of the Association of Design and Drafting Professionals (ADDA), and the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce who are also hosting their annual conference here in Chattanooga.

3 Tennessee Geographic Information Council Page 3 Keynote Speaker: Dr. David Maidment, University of Texas at Austin TNGIC is proud to announce that one of our Keynote speakers for this year s conference is Dr. David Maidment. Dr. David Maidment is an Engineering Foundation Professor of Civil Engineering and the Director of the Center for Research in Water Resources, University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Dr. Maidment teaches water resources engineering, and conducts research on the application of geographic information systems in water resources as well as the chief developer of ESRI s ArcHydro extension. He has been on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin since Dr. Maidment received his Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering with First-Class Honors in 1971 from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He received his Master of Science degree in 1974 and his Doctor of Philosophy in 1976 from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2003 Dr. Maidment received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Environmental Systems Research Institute for contributions to GIS in Water Resources, presented at the ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, CA. Keynote Speaker: Lee Wetherington, Goldleaf Technologies Lee Wetherington, AAP, serves as Senior Vice President of Goldleaf Technologies. He routinely delivers keynotes nationwide, counseling financial institutions on strategic, technical, and promotional issues in the arenas of e-banking and electronic payments. Lee has spoken for numerous national and state trade groups, including Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), American Bankers Association (ABA), American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and the National Automated Clearinghouse Association (NACHA). He also serves as the Technology Faculty Chair for the Georgia Banking School, the Midwest School for Community Bankers, the Florida School of Banking, the Southern Operations & Technology School.
