Collegians and alumnae began the day with regional meetings to share ideas and honor regional award winners. After a quick coffee break, Pi Phis headed into the General Session room. The meeting kicked off with the official charter presentation for the Connecticut Gamma Chapter at Quinnipiac University (QU). The chapter was installed in spring 2012 with more than 100 members, many of who are active in many different on-campus groups, including the QU student government, QU programming board and student newspaper. Convention attendees then Top: Texas Etas stopped for a picture with the heard the State of the Entities, finished sand castle during the afternoon break. given by Grand President MARY LOY TATUM, Bottom: Oklahoma Betas chatted at the Oklahoma Beta; Foundation President KATHY conclusion of legislation. SWINEA NEVILL, Tennessee Gamma; and Fraternity Housing Corporation (FHC) President LYN ARNOT CLARK, Texas Alpha. All three Entity Presidents discussed the successes and challenges of the biennium. I am always awed by the power in this room do you feel it? said Foundation President KATHY SWINEA NEVILL, Tennessee Gamma. Following the presentations, voting took place via Scantron, which was a very smooth and efficient process. Pi Phis then headed to the Recognition Lunch to celebrate our 75-year Diamond Arrows, 50-year Golden Arrows and 25-year Silver Arrows and past individual award winners. Several National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) friends also attended the lunch and were recognized. A special video played at the conclusion of lunch in honor of Pi Beta Phi s Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) program, which turns 100 years old this year. Continued on Page 2

Convention attendees laughed and applauded during the video, especially when Fraternity Archivist & Historian FRAN DESIMONE BECQUE, New York Alpha, spoke about her AAC Chair. She seemed a 105, and I thought, why is she doing this?, but she had faith in me that I did not have in myself, and she nurtured me, Fran said. Reenergized from the lively lunch, convention attendees headed into the afternoon session to discuss legislation, which included more than 20 proposals. Though some issues garnered a bit of discussion, legislation ended much earlier than scheduled. The legislation process went beautifully. We placed an emphasis, very early on, of everyone understanding the issues and that made the whole process run smoothly, said Grand President MARY LOY TATUM, Oklahoma Beta. Pi Phis enjoyed a bit of free time in the afternoon. Some went to the pool, some went for walks on the San Diego bay and some may have enjoyed a bit of downtime, but all loved spending the afternoon with their Pi Phi sisters. The day concluded with Dinner by Chapter, one of the most beloved events at convention. While each Chapter Voting Delegate proudly carried her banner across the stage during the Banner Parade, her sisters cheered and many waved school colors or pennants. Dinner by Chapter was great, because I got to carry my chapter s banner, said LIBBY TONNER, Florida Delta. Plus, I got to take a photo with my mom s banner, North Dakota Alpha. Before heading to bed, Pi Phis stopped to take photos with their chapter's banners, and to chat with new and old sisters. The fun continues today with a full schedule, including keynote guest speaker Leslie Goldman and the Deep Dive educational sessions. Stop by today and register to win one of these great items! Official 2013 Convention Pin* we re giving away two today! $24 value Open today 9 11:45 a.m. and 1 7 p.m. Limited Edition Sapphire and Aquamarine 10k gold badge* $250 value *Donated by Pi Beta Phi s official jeweler, Herff Jones.

These were little notes to say thank you to a sister for help on an assignment or for being there during tough times. It was very memorable to hear everyone appreciate one another. Alison Bowles, New Mexico Alpha I can t speak enough praise for my amazing little sis, Alexa. I see her dedication, enthusiasm, support and love. I serve as our Panhellenic President, and she was elected right next to me as our Vice President. We take the term power duo to a whole new level! Randi Amalfitano, New York Eta To me, Pi Phi is about real women doing the best we can with the support of sisters cheering us on. My club is a seemingly random group of women, but we make it a priority to come together each month, to check in with each other. No matter how bad of a day I ve had or how hard it is to get out of the house, I m always happy I ve done so to share a little Pi Phi sisterhood. Ashley Richardson, Mississippi Beta Calling all CHCs! The FHC Housing Symposium is Today! The day has come! FHC will host its Housing Symposium from 9:30 11:30 a.m. and 3:45 5:45 p.m. in Marina 2. Sessions include: 1.
