Senior quarterback Steve Valentino earned the PFL s first weekly offensive honor after surpassing both the 200-yard passing and 100-yard rushing marks against Robert Morris CAMPBELL returns home after a successful season-opener on the road to face Old Dominion, which lost to Jacksonville in week one. The Camels saw senior quarterback Daniel Polk record two rushing touchdowns and 224 yards total offense in their opener MOREHEAD STATE will seek redemption against St. Francis, which won last season s meeting for its first win in the series. Sophomore quarterback Zach Lewis will seek to rebound from an 85-yard passing effort at nationally-ranked James Madison VALPARAISO seeks to end its 10-game losing streak when it travels to face Franklin. It will not be easy for the Crusaders who trail the series and lost the last three meetings. Valparaiso sophomore punter Greg Wood was called on to punt nine times in his first collegiate appearance and handled the duties admirably, downing three inside the 20-yard line DRAKE will look to rebound from its home-opening loss when it travels to Missouri S&T, an opponent it has not lost to in four previous meetings. The Bulldogs must avoid looking ahead to next week s showdown at nationally-ranked Montana JACKSONVILLE may have the toughest task of any PFL member in week two, traveling to nationally-ranked Appalachian State. The Dolphins will take a fourgame win streak into Boone, N.C., its longest such streak since a seven-game stretch in 2008 which led to the PFL title. Senior running back Rudell Small ran for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Dolphins week one victory BUTLER will face its only scholarship opponent this season when it travels to Youngstown State. The Bulldogs won their season-opener and have won 12 of their last 13 outings dating back to last season. Junior quarterback Andrew Huck passed for 222 yards and three touchdowns in week one MARIST continues its season-opening three-game homestand when it hosts Bucknell. Games between the Red Foxes and Bison have been nail biters with five points separating the two teams in the last two meetings, but Marist remains winless in the series DAVIDSON opens its road slate with a visit to Lenoir- Rhyne, a close series the Bears won last season s meeting by an uncharacteristic 42-0 score. Wildcat running back Kenny Mantuo needs 72 yards to break into the program s top-10 on the career rushing chart SAN DIEGO will face the first of two consecutive Great West Conference opponents when it travels to Southern Utah. Last year s meeting was particularly memorable for sophomore quarterback Bo Stompro, who earned that week s PFL offensive honor after tossing five touchdowns in the loss

4 2010 NCAA INFORMATION TO KNOW NCAA DIVISION I FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP EXPANDS, CHANGES LOCATIONS: In 2010, 20 teams will qualify for the NCAA Division I Football Championship. It is the first time since 1987 the NCAA Division I Football Championship has been expanded then from 12 teams to 16 teams. In addition 10 of the 14 FCS conferences will receive automatic bids into the tournament the Big South and Northeast Conferences gaining automatic berths. Entering 2010 there are 124 programs competing in football at the Division I FCS level. PFL COULD RECEIVE AT-LARGE BID IN 2010: While the PFL did not receive a automatic qualifying spot into the 2010 championship, the league could still receive what would amount to an automatic at-large bid. Under criteria established by the championship committee, the PFL champion could receive an automatic at-large bid if it meets three criteria. First, it must win eight games against Division I opposition. Secondly, it must win two games against opponents from the 10 automatic qualifying conferences. Finally, it must finish the season ranked among the top 20 in the polls as calculated by the championship committee. DIVISION I FCS, PLEASE: Although some people may accidentally still refer to it as I-AA football, the term that represents the level of Division I football in which the Pioneer Football League competes has been retired. Beginning with the 2006 National Championship game, the term Football Championship Subdivision (or FCS) is to be used. FCS is the only Division I football rank to host a NCAAsponsored national championship (one of 88 championships the NCAA sponsors). The division formerly known as I-A was changed to Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and those teams compete for the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) national championship. Teams who play at the FCS level can offer a maximum of 63 scholarships (FBS teams can offer 85) and compete in a 20-team playoff at the end of the season to determine the national champion.
