In her five seasons as head coach, Jennifer Gross has continued the tradition of excellence instilled in her throughout her entire Aggie career. 41 CAL AGGIE ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME The UC Davis Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1980 to provide special recognition for outstanding accomplishment in intercollegiate athletics. To be considered for the Hall of Fame, a participant must have competed with unusual distinction in an intercollegiate sport for at least two seasons, achieved recognition at the conference, regional or preferably national levels, and achieved this accomplishment in a manner the exemplifies the UC Davis concept of a student-athlete. Furthermore, a five-year period must elapse from the most recent participation in athletics before a student-athlete becomes eligible for induction. Through there are 39 men s and women s basketball players and coaches enshrined in the UC Davis Athletic Hall of Fame. Jessica Campbell (now Jesssica Pardoe) is the most recent inductee from women s basketball, earning induction in Pam Martin Carol Rische Lisa Kennedy-Bell Inductee...Participated... Inducted Ray E. 42 THE PAVILION Formerly known as Recreation Hall, the Pavilion ranks as one of the largest on-campus basketball facilities in Northern California. The arena opened to the sport in the season and has been home to all the excitement of Aggie basketball since that time. On Dec. 9, 1995, the basketball floor inside the Pavilion was renamed Hamilton Court, in honor of former men s basketball coach Bob Hamilton, who passed away just days prior to the ceremonies. The Pavilion was built with funds allocated by the students themselves. It still provides the student body, staff, faculty and the community with a superb and diverse recreational facility. In the spring of 2004, the neighboring Activities & Recreation Center (ARC) opened its doors, offering an even wider variety of opportunities. The arena has undergone recent renovations as part of the Facilities And Campus Enhancement (F.A.C.E.) Initiative. Recent improvements to the facility include full-color Daktronics ProStar and ProAd displays, an enhanced scoreboard, three-directional shot clocks and renovated team rooms. The Pavilion underwent another major overhaul in the fall of A new seating system with wider aisles was installed. Portions of the formerly continuous concrete wall were removed to allow access from the arena-level seating to the concourse. Other improvements include a new speaker system and more noticeable a portable maple playing surface atop a multipurpose floor. The Pavilion foyer houses the Colby E. Babe Slater Hall of Fame & Trophy Room, where the campus exhibits three NCAA Woman of the Year trophies, six NACDA Directors Cups and a special display in honor of Slater, a two-time Olympic medalist and UC Davis first standout student-athlete. The first official basketball game ever played in the Pavilion was on Nov. 26, 1977, when 2,600 watched the University of the Pacific beat the Aggies, Intercollegiate teams which also use the Pavilion include the Aggie women s volleyball and women s gymnastics teams. Additionally, the UC Davis wrestling team recently converted the South Concourse into its practice facility. The wrestlers also use the arena for tournaments and key dual matches, including a January 2005 showdown with the University of Iowa. The Pavilion has served as the site for a number of postseason championships, including the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships, the Pacific-10 Conference Wrestling Championships, numerous NCAA West Region tournaments for men s and women s basketball and volleyball. In addition to collegiate athletics events, the California Interscholastic Federation and the Volleyball Festival have held their respective championship events on Hamilton Court. The Pavilion has also hosted numerous concerts and entertainment events. More recent acts include Bob Dylan, Steve Miller Band, Ke$ha and Drake; comedian Bill Maher, TeenMania ministries and World Wrestling Entertainment. Both the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors have held preseason games on Hamilton Court. Furthermore, The Pavilion serves as annual venue for the university s commencement ceremonies and the Aggie Auction, the athletics department s gala fundraiser. For basketball, the Pavilion can seat more than 6,100. Both the men s and women s basketball teams have set program attendance records during recent seasons as part of the athletics department s annual Break The Record Night promotion. Although the all-time attendance record of 7,926 is no longer attainable in the current configuration, the Aggie marketing and promotions office continues to hold a Pack The Pavilion night on an annual basis. On Nov. 14, 2014, a program-record 4,712 fans filed into the Pavilion to watch the UC Davis women s basketball take on No. 1-ranked UConn for a televised season opener.
