South of St. Joseph, the western boundary is beside (and includes) Duford Drive. It runs due south to Des Epinettes Avenue and includes Turnberry road but not Silver Bark Avenue.
2 CANDIDATE-SUBMITTED BIOGRAPHIES BOB MONETTE (INCUMBENT) Bob Monette first joined political life in 1985 when he served on the Cumberland City Council for six years. Bob returned to serve on Council in January 2006 in a by-election and was then reelected in November Bob currently sits on a number of city committees. He is a member of both the Planning and Environment and Corporate Services and Economic development because he believes the proper growth and development are crucial to the future of the City of Ottawa. As well, justice and safety are a long time passion for Bob and as such he sits on the Police Services Board. Bob has also been elected by Council to sit, on both the Central Canada Exhibition Association and the Pineview Municipal Golf Course Board of Directors. Bob is focused on working for the benefit of all residents of Ottawa while always keeping in mind the interests of Orléans. Bob has played an integral role in cleaning up the Ottawa River; helping to secure over 100 million dollars in funding from all the levels of three levels of government after his 2008 tour of the ROPEC facility. Bob is also focused on the development of Lansdowne Park, and was actively participated in the Lansdowne Live proposal. Bob also has worked endlessly to ensure that Kettle Island is the new location of the Interprovincial-Bridge. Bob also remains focused on the Community of Orléans as a whole some of his local accomplishments are, opening up a community garden, the first ever Seniors Park in Eastern Ontario, facilitated in the development of Orléans first hotel: Best Western, worked in paternership with Forum Inc to develop the Town Centre, and ensuring that Orléans is graffiti free. Bob, his wife Pat, and their three children, Ron, Joanne and Rick all have been residents of Queenswood Heights in Orléans for over 30 years. JENNIFER ROBITAILLE For the last 10 years, Jennifer Robitaille and her young family have lived in the Fallingbrook Area of Orléans. Educated in Business Administration with a focus on Supply Chain Management, she developed her skill sets in manufacturing (both hi- and low-tech), health care and with International, Federal and Municipal Government agencies. As Director of Purchasing and Logistics for Code Incorporated both The United Nations and The World Bank recognized her for providing on-time, on-budget supply of election materials to developing countries. She is currently the Purchasing Officer for The County of Lanark with responsibilities for updating County public procurement bylaws, teaching municipal staff in all areas of public procurement and code of ethics and overseeing/auditing competitive bid processes and contract management. Her experience in making recommendations to Council and dealing with the various departments within Lanark County will allow her to apply cost saving measures immediately. Words that describe Jennifer: - Set priorities - Understand urgency and manage deadlines - Make decisions but get it right the first time - Ethical and accountable - Work with diverse groups (management, unions, staff, researchers, university and high school graduates) to develop consensus, bring forth innovative ideas and encourage self-improvement - Organized - Detail and big picture focused - Think outside the box - Challenge the status quo
3 FRED SHERWIN Fred Sherwin is a journalist, a community volunteer and a facilitator. Following a lengthy career as a journalist and photographer, he launched a community news and information website called OrleansOnline.ca in December 2001 which he still publishes to this day. His involvement in the community dates back to 1989 when he began writing a column in the Orleans Star. In fact he has been chronicling the people and events of Orleans for the past 20 years. He is also the chair of the Greater Orleans Canada Day Celebration on Petrie Island which he started in 2004 and is responsible for the Orleans Outstanding Youth Awards which every year celebrates the achievements of local youth. He was selected "Business of the Year" during the Orleans Peoples Choice Business Awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and he has twice received a Fallingbrook Volunteer Appreciation Award.
