2 CONFERENCE Highlights A Message from our Chairman We are excited for the upcoming 2018 Georgia Construction Conference to be held on May 9 th and 10 th at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. The conference will be headlined by Anirban Basu who will be providing this year s economic update which is brought to you by ViewPoint. This year s conference will be a two-day event with great programs on some of the most important topics in the construction industry, and will cost $200 for both days or $150 for one day. In addition, we will be presenting a Mental Health Awareness Summit. Please join us for this FREE seminar on May 10 from 1:30 4:00 p.m. immediately following the Construction Finance Conference, but it is open to anyone, including those not attending the full conference. Josh Roper, Conference Chairman ViewPoint Economic Update Anirban Basu, Chairman & CEO of Sage Anirban is Chairman & CEO of Sage, an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore, Maryland that he founded in Mr. Basu is among the most recognizable economists, in part because of his consulting work on behalf of numerous clients, including prominent developers, bankers, brokerage houses, energy suppliers, law firms and business associations. Mr. Basu has written several high-profile economic development strategies on behalf of government agencies and non-profit organizations, including co-authoring economic development strategies for Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Maryland. Among other things, Anirban serves as the chief economist to Associated Builders and Contractors (national) and as chief economic advisor to the Construction Financial Management Association. Mental Health Awareness Summit The nation s opioid addiction crisis coupled with the alarming statistic that the construction industry is #1 for number of employee deaths by suicide has led the CFMA to take a proactive role in bringing awareness and support to our membership.
