2 Selecting Classes for Next Year Counselors will be visiting classes in mid-march to go over the classes appropriate by grade level. Students will have until after spring break to decide on their classes and enter them on Netclassroom

3 Checking Graduation Requirements Students and parents can review graduation requirements on Netclassroom If you have any questions about it, have your student let their counselor know.

4 To Test or Not to Test?? It s far too early for 9 th grades to be prepping for or taking SAT or ACT! They have a testing protocol:act and PSAT

5 To Test or Not to Test?? Sophomores can take SAT Subject tests in June if they are taking AP classes. For very eager 10 th graders, they can use Shmoop or Khan Academy to start test prep (but only if they are interested)!

6 To Test or Not to Test?? Juniors should have taken or be registered for an ACT and an SAT this spring.

7 College Visits Actually seeing a campus for yourself is very powerful. This is important at ANY grade level! Take advantage of different opportunities to see campuses in person BEFORE applying as a senior.

14 Especially for Juniors Summer before senior year can be utilized to get a jump start on college applications! We certainly do not want you to stress about this, but it really is a good idea to get a head start!

15 Starting Your College List A tentative college list should begin this spring and continue through the summer (built on ideas, dreams, research, etc.) Create a list based on academics and admission standards:

17 Starting Your College List The bulk should be in the TARGET and SAFETY ranges. Have the most options possible! Every school on your list should be one that you would be happy to attend

18 The All-Important Essay The only part of the application you still have control Gives room for explanation

19 The All-Important Essay The essay or Personal Statement should reflect YOU and be YOUR voice. Summer is the perfect time just to jot down ideas or free write.
