1 Tau Beta Sigma-Southwest District Fundraiser Database Submitted By: Colin Peters Tau Beta Sigma-Tau Chapter of Houston SWD Secretary/Treasurer The purpose of this document is to share fundraiser ideas from around the district. You will find fundraisers specific to chapters as well as general fundraisers that will work in almost any situation. Feel free to take any of these and make them your own! Chapter College/ Fundraiser 1 Fundraiser 2 Alpha Tau Oklahoma State of Oklahoma of Houston Selling band shirts designed by a member to band Pride of Oklahoma Tank Tops and Shorts. Every year the Treasurer sells a Pride of Oklahoma tank top (different design every year) and this year we sold shorts with the Pride logo on them. This year we made $213 from the sales. Fundraiser Name: Date Auction Details: Chapter members recruit and invite students to participate in this event. Participants fill out a questionnaire asking questions such as: major, favorite food, favorite song, spirit animal, etc. to be announced while they are walking on the "runway." Advertised as a campus wide event, attendees are able to bid on a hangout with the Setting up vending booth at our homecoming festivities events to sell merchandise such as baked goods and crafts. Pride of Oklahoma Parent's Day. Every year for the Pride of Oklahoma Parent's football game we set up an apparel area in the music building. Here we sell old Pride apparel, Parent's Day shirts, and other Pride things like car decals. We have yet to have this fundraiser this year.

2 Psi Beta Nu Gamma Xi of Arkansas Arkansas Tech Arkansas State person on the stage. Sold Car Decals to the Marching Band. They were a huge success with very high profit margins. We made them in-house with a sister's silhouette maker. For $5 the could have RMB, stands for Razorback Marching Band, and for $7, they could customize it with their name, instrument, etc. If you go to a company, you will still have a decently high profit margin. I required each member to sell 3 and most sold way more than that. Our total profits were around $1,300. It's a good one to start the semester off with. Holiday Bake Sale: The week after thanksgiving/the week before finals we hosted a holiday bake sale. We decorated with holiday themed items and sold holiday treats, like gingerbread cookies, and hot chocolate. It was a pretty successful fundraiser :) Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup- we sell these in the Fine Arts building at a location and date where all music majors have class. Generally, people prefer this to running to the student union to grab lunch. Cookie Jar Fundraiser. For this one it is fairly similar but we require each member to sell 6 of them for $6 a piece. We purchase mason jars and other dry ingredients to make what we call Cowboy cookies which are basically oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. We make the jars and then pass them out to the members before selling. We have two rounds where we make them: one is for when they go home for Thanksgiving break so that they can sell them and the other is when they return from break and would like to sell more. From this fundraiser, we make about $1,000- $1,200. These are two of our most successful fundraisers. A local man runs a marching competition and uses our stadium and workers from the band. We provide concessions for the competition, so we get the profit from that. Typically, we make around $2,000 for this event.

3 Pi Sigma Upsilon Epsilon Beta Epsilon Psi of Arkansas at Pine Bluff The of Louisiana at Monroe Howard Payne Texas A&M - Commerce Prairie View A&M Ice cream bar, potatoe bar, bake sale. We sell item at these events for a small cheap price. At the ice cream bar, we make hand made sundaes and Ice Cream Pie. Potatoe bar, we make loaded potatoes. Bake sale, we make cakes, brownies, pies, cookies, rice krispies, cheese cake, and cheese dip. Bake sale- we intend to sell baked goods during the honor chior auditions held on our campus. On a seperate day we intend to hold a bake sale in the quad on campus. T-Shirts for Alumni During homecoming weekend, Upsilon sells our most recent shirts (chapter, district, etc.) to any alumni present. By doing so, we continue to foster those relationships as we keep them involved with our chapter. In addition, they are able to represent TBS wherever they may be. "Boo" Grams! Good during Halloween season to send Ghost lolipops or candy bags to your "Boo" (or any of your friends) and pay a little extra to make it anonomous! Snack sale during band trips Spats, gloves, and music floders sell. We order extra and sell them through the marching band semester for a small cheap price. Restaurant Night- several restaurants in our area hold a fundraiser for organizations and donate a portion of the money to them. Brisket Dinner Upsilon hosts a community wide brisket dinner at one of our local parks. We sell dinner plates, as well as, desserts and drinks. It's a great way to helps us stay involved with our local community. Spirit Link. The class in the band who raised the most spirit

4 Eta Epsilon Eta Nu Eta Pi Texas State Tarleton State Northwestern State Fundraiser for New Equipment for Albany High School We are in the process of buying a gift basket with: a drum key, screw kit, valve oil, cork grease, tuner, and snacks will be available to be won buy the student in the School of music. Each ticket is $5 to enter the raffle. All the profit will go to the high school who's equipment was lost due to a fire. Jr. High Band Clinic/Lessons We hosted students from the local Jr. High in a region band clinic. They each payed $20 for an all day clinic with lunch included. We recruited music major volunteers to help teach. March-a-spot! All week we set up a table in our band building with assistants of the band names on a bucket. Students of the marching band then pay to put there name in a raffle, at the end of the week, we pick right before band and during the last full run on practice, the winning student and corresponding person links have a pizza bowling party. Coin drive war between sections, all coins count towards a section and paper money counts against a section, the winning section gets to pie or water ballon the directors ( need their permission) Pie in the face During marching band, we chose a section leader from each section as well as the drum majors and sat in the fine arts building at a table with everyone's name on a bag. People would donate money to the bag of the person they wanted to pie in the face. The 5 people with the most money were pied after marching band practice. Bra pong. This serves as both a fundraiser and a service project. We created a basic science fair board poster with varying sizes of 6 bras and gave out pink ribbon stickers to anyone that played. The prizes ranged from candy to $5 sonic coupon cards. 75% of the proceeds are being sent to support breast cancer and the other 25% goes to the band. This is only our first year but it was such a hit that we want to

5 switch spots. We do drum majors, band directors, and techs. It does a great job pumping the band up because it is always a good laugh. This is only the second year we have done it, but everyone loves it already. continue it every year.

Chili Chowdown! hosted by Broughton High School Band Join us for Chili Chowdown! hosted by Broughton Band. This event offers a chili dinner (bowl of chili, corn bread, drink and dessert) $6 adult, $4 age
