Deputy Nelson Sanchez helped out with the Ride 2 Recovery. A veteran named Jerry Lachance, riding from Canada to the Florida Keys and raising money for wounded veterans. Other deputies in the Keys - including some of our Traffic Enforcement Unit, helped out, on the last part of a 2500 mile long bike ride from Maine to Key West. The rider, retired Colonel Gary West, was riding to raise money and awareness for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit group that provides scholarships to the families of killed or disabled military members. Both men are to be commended for their tremendous efforts to help our military veterans and their families.

The Bomb Squad and SWAT team talked with kids at Gerald Adams Elementary School on Stock Island last Friday about law enforcement. And the winner is...sheriff Rick Ramsay did the honors picking a raffle winner for the Yeti cooler. The winner was Jill Brownlow. The raffle raised money for Relay for Life. This manatee had a rope tangled around its flipper. Someone called to report it. Marine Deputy Nelson Sanchez and Sgt. Mark Coleman responded. Here is Sgt.
