Please review the attached evacuation map with your students to determine the appropriate evacuation zone. Below are evacuation procedures: 1. Once the bell sounds, begin evacuating immediately and direct students and staff to the proper evacuation zone as indicated on the map sent to you by email and campus mail. 2. The building monitor (wearing an orange vest) will be responsible for ensuring that each building is fully evacuated and will note classes that do not comply. 3. Report to the evacuation zone, indicated on your evacuation map. Please remain in your zone until you hear a 20 second horn which will sound the all clear, indicating that everyone can be released. As you probably noticed, there are building monitors responsible for evacuating buildings. However, we do need the assistance of faculty to assist with crowd control in making certain that students/staff remain in their zone (away from the buildings) until the all clear bell rings. Should you have any questions or comments, contact Susan Okawa at ext. 8669. East Los Angeles College 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez Monterey Park, CA 91754

DR. BRIDGET KONTER (University of Texas, El Paso) will present: Locked, Loaded, and Looming? 12:30-1:30pm, Thursday OCTOBER 27 th ELAC PERFORMING ARTS CENTER S2 RECITAL HALL When will the next big EARTHQUAKE strike on the SAN ANDREAS FAULT? Learn about the state of stress on the SAF and likelihood of the next BIG ONE! DR. BRIDGET KONTER (University of Texas, El Paso) will present: Locked, Loaded, and Looming? Exploring Earthquake Cycle Stress History of Seismically-active Faults of the San Andreas Fault System Prompted by the lingering absence of a major earthquake over the past 300 years along the southern San Andreas fault, EarthScope is leading a large-scale community effort to understand the nature of earthquake hazards along the Pacific-North American plate boundary. Several key questions motivate this work: How does plate boundary stress evolve spatially and temporally throughout the earthquake cycle? What can past and present-day stress accumulation scenarios tell us about the current state of seismic hazard? GPS data from EarthScope s Plate Boundary Observatory (PBO) provide a large-scale perspective of present-day crustal motions.. This talk presents an overview of geodetic and paleoseismic observations of the San Andreas fault system. It relates how the resulting data are synthesized into earthquake stress evolution models to probe the depths, stress accumulation rates, and stress relationships of past earthquakes along seismically-active faults in California. SCHEDULE: 12:15-12:30pm 12:30-1:30pm 1:30-1:45pm Meet and Greet Dr. Konter Dr. Konter Lectures Questions THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 th ELAC PERFORMING ARTS CENTER RECITAL HALL (bldg S2) 9
