Duck Key Cleanup 1180 pounds of trash were removed from Duck Key this past weekend by this impressive group of dedicated people. Law Enforcement Luncheon This month s luncheon will be held at the Trumbo Palms Restaurant on the Key West Trumbo Point Annex February 24, 2016 at Noon. This meeting s topic will be presented by the U.S. Attorney s Office Senior Litigation Counsel, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Dexter Lee. He will speak about litigation of civil rights claims against law enforcement officers, and the defenses available to police officers. The presentation should be of interest to all that attend. Given the controversy that exists in the United States over the use of force by police officers, generated in large part by bystander videos which have been made public, police officers may believe that they are under siege. Mr. Lee would like to review the legal standards for the lawful use of force, including the use of deadly force, and how civil rights actions are resolved in the courts. Please RSVP no later than February 16, 2016 to Colleen Dymarcik at 305-293-2866 or colleen. dymarcik@navy.mil ALL attendees must RSVP as all names must be provided for front gate access. Plantation Key School seventh graders visited the Plantation Key courthouse this week to learn about how the court system works. They also had a chance to talk to Sheriff s Office court deputies about the job they do keeping the courthouse and court personnel safe. Weekly Rap Up - Page 4

After a number of parking complaints on Stock Island, Deputies Matt Dowling and Linda Kohout posted vehicles that were illegally parked and warned people sleeping in their vehicles. The signs warn people not to leave valuables in their car and to lock car doors. Left to right, Deputies Jon Riggs, Donald Stulken, Lt. Donnie Catala and Jim Crane. Sgt.
