ORGANISATION PROFILE Our story began in 1985. We are a not-for-profit organisation that grew from concerns about the rapidly unfolding HIV/AIDS epidemic in New Zealand during the early 1980s. Today, we connect with thousands of kiwis every day through our HIV prevention programs and our HIV testing, counselling and support services around New Zealand. HIV Prevention Our HIV prevention programs are entrenched in community. Our passionate team works with the people most affected by HIV in New Zealand, building a positive condom culture: Off the back of the very successful Love Your Condom programme, Ending HIV is NZAF s primary social marketing programme for HIV prevention among gay and bisexual men. It is a community-focused programme that aims to mobilise gay and bisexual men around the goal of ending new HIV transmission in New Zealand by 2025.

Love Cover Protect is a programme for Africans by Africans living in New Zealand. It s about empowering all of us to be responsible for our health because, the reality is that Africans aren t immune to HIV in New Zealand. Our counselling and testing staff work with clients, supporting them to make choices that will maintain their health and wellbeing. HIV & STI Testing We offer free rapid testing services for HIV, syphilis or hep C at our regional centres in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and through contracted providers in most regions around the country. We also offer standard testing for gonorrhoea and chlamydia at our regional centres. Counselling Our qualified team of counsellors provide free and confidential counselling in a safe space. Our services are available for people living with HIV, their friends and whānau and anyone who is affected by or at risk of contracting HIV. Counselling services are available at our centres in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch and through a network of contracted staff in most regions throughout New Zealand. Support for People Living with HIV We have a long history of supporting people in their experience of living with HIV and advocating for their rights. Every year we work with approximately 400 people living with the HIV through the provision of free counselling and peer support groups. Locations Our national office is in Auckland and our three centres are in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch: NZAF National Office: 31 Hargreaves Street, College Hill, Auckland 1011 NZAF Burnett Centre: 35 Hargreaves Street, College Hill, Auckland 1011 NZAF Ᾱwhina Centre: Level 1, 187 Willis Street, Wellington 6011 NZAF Te Toḵa: 185 Peterborough Street Christchurch 8013 PRIMARY OBJECTIVE The Fundraising Assistant will be responsible for continuing our successful grants programme as well as assisting the Senior Fundraising Specialist on key fundraising events, donor acquisition and management. FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Responsible to INTERNAL Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager The Fundraising Assistant reports to the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager who will provide operational, guidance and supervision and on-going professional support. Digital Engagement Specialist Social Marketing Coordinator Operations Director Executive Director NZAF management team EXTERNAL Relationships with Regular donors Philanthropic trusts and grant-making bodies Potential major donors and/or those that influence them Business owners and networks, including rainbow community businesses Other corporate organisations, partners and sponsors Event organisers NZAF Members Fundraising sector networks KEY TASKS KEY TASKS EXPECTED RESULTS Grant Applications Develop and submit grant applications, and other proposals to ensure fundraising targets are met; this includes: o matching grant criteria to projects within NZAF o assisting with the development of budgets to support grant applications o co-ordinating with administrative staff and also directly undertaking tasks so as to get cost quotations to support applications o writing the appropriate narrative to support the case for a grant in line with the grants required format High quality grant applications are submitted in line with an annual grants calendar Grant reporting and accountability is carried out in a timely and effective manner Co-ordinate reporting and accountability for successful grants Ensure administration and accountability of donations and grants is effective and transparent Donor Acquisition and Management Support the Senior Fundraising Specialist to: Administer e-tapestry database as a key tool for recruiting and managing donations. This will include data entry, donor segmentation, email communication, reporting, and optimization. E-tapestry database is up-to-date with accurate, clean data and effectively used to manage donor programme. High quality fundraising collateral and resources are developed

Events Produce fundraising collateral and resources that support donor acquisition and management Support the Senior Fundraising Specialist to: Implement the NZAF World AIDS Day appeal, including the co-ordination of the campaign and related collateral; co-ordination and liaison for street appeals in Wellington and Auckland; Implement all other NZAF fundraising events Implement fundraising at other events including Ending HIV Big Gay Out Biculturalism Contribute to the NZAF s progress towards cultural competency and commitment to biculturalism by ensuring key events and relationship management approaches reflect full and active participation and effective relationships with Māori. Any other reasonable task which is consistent with the overall objectives of NZAF s Fundraising. World AIDS Day is implemented effectively All other events are implemented effectively and deliver good returns in terms of positive relationships and/or funds raised. Relationships with Māori stakeholders and community members are developed and this is reflected in fundraising activities Participate fully in opportunities to develop improved cultural competency Demonstrate an understanding of tikanga Māori To be negotiated with the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager.

SUPPORT Supervision The Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Senior Fundraiser understands their role and tasks, and is supported in carrying them out. Supervision meetings will occur at least monthly, and on an ad-hoc basis as needed by either party. Performance appraisal Performance appraisals per a model that includes self, peer, and manager assessment will be carried out annually and will include a work plan and may be linked to a performance-based salary review. Professional development The value and advantage of education and staff development for both the employee and the NZAF is recognized. Adequate training, information and assistance will be provided to ensure that the post holder can meet the responsibilities of the position. Administrative Assistance This post holder is expected to self-support to meet the administrative requirements of the role however some assistance may be provided for projects. QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES TECHNICAL AND PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS BICULTURALISM No tertiary qualifications are required. School Certificate in English and Mathematics are essential a) Knowledge and experience of fundraising in the not-forprofit sector b) Knowledge of and experience in grant application experience to philanthropic trusts and other grant making bodies. c) Significant experience in administration d) Ability to relate to, work with and communicate effectively within gay and bisexual men s communities e) Experience in fundraising database management f) Understanding of, and experience using technology as a way of communicating with mass audiences g) Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as work effectively independently h) Self-motivated well organised and with good time management. i) Understanding and ability to manage personal/professional boundaries j) Ability to prioritise work effectively, and manage changing and conflicting demands k) Professional approach to sexuality and sexual issues l) Knowledge and awareness of people from a wide variety of cultural and social backgrounds including an understanding of relationship development and management. a) Knowledge of issues relating to HIV b) Knowledge and experience of fundraising for black sheep charities c) Knowledge and awareness of people from a wide variety of cultural and social backgrounds including an understanding of relationship development and management a) Full and current driver's license b) Ability to work flexible hours c) Excellent oral and written skills in English The NZAF is committed to being a bicultural organisation.
