JOINT PROJECT Strengthening capacity of policy makers in South East Asia to promote policies and developing plans for improved wastewater treatment and reuse in urban and peri-urban areas Activities: strengthen existing institutions as centers of excellence, develop Guidance Manual and a Policy Study on DEWATS design the proposals on DEWATS for Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam implement pilot in Lao PDR promote policies and developing plans for improved wastewater treatment and reuse in urban and peri urban

Objectives of the Workshop 1 2 3 To review and discuss challenges and barriers, as well as institutional, technical, financial policies and solutions on DEWATS in the SEA region To assess the situation and efforts on DEWATS and future programming in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam To discuss criteria for identification of the Regional Resource Centre on DEWATS, promotional materials and inputs to the Guidance Manual on DEWATS and the work plan

Glossary for Wastewater Colour Code: Green Water- natural water, ex precipitation (rain, snow, humid) Blue Water -clean natural water: ex. ocean, sea, underground water, spring, mountain river, lakes Black Water: Waste Water Yellow Water- urine, easy for reuse Brown Water- everything else, need extra treatment, contain chemicals Grey Water- water for technical use, ex. household waste water after shower/laundry used for flash, not connected with outside
