This user guide aims to provide guidance for GPs on both non-elective and elective services for patients at Trafford General and Hospitals, now that the new model has been introduced. The first section focuses on non-elective care and the following section gives a comprehensive guide to all elective services at both hospitals. GP User Guide to Hospital Hospital is a community hospital located in the centre of. It provides a wide range of general and specialist outpatient, diagnostic and therapeutic services, as follows: Audiology Cardiology Clinical Haematology General Surgery (including Thyroid and Colorectal) Dermatology Diabetes Dietetics Elderly Medicine ENT Gastroenterology Gynaecology Minor Injuries Unit, nurse-led Ophthalmology Orthopaedics Pain management Phlebotomy Physiotherapy Podiatry Radiology X-ray and ultrasound Renal dialysis Respiratory Rheumatology Urology Vascular Minor Injuries Unit The Minor Injuries Unit at Hospital is staffed by experienced emergency nurse practitioners who can assess and treat a wide range of minor injuries including broken limbs, simple wounds, bites, minor burns, cuts and lacerations, and foreign bodies in the nose or ear. No appointment is necessary. Its opening hours are: Monday to Friday 8.00am 8.00pm Weekends and bank holidays* 10.00am 6.00pm *except Christmas, Boxing and New Year s Day Ophthalmology Manchester Royal Eye Hospital at Potential patients and referrers who would prefer to attend Hospital should simply follow the same referral process. The MREH team will look to accommodate patients as close to their home as possible. Patients who are referred by GPs or optometrists with an acute eye problem or condition can be triaged over the phone by specialist nurses and will now be given an appointment and seen with 24 hours at Hospital, rather than having to travel to Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Phlebotomy Drop-in blood tests are available as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8.00am 3.30pm Wednesday 11.00am 3.30pm Anti-coagulant clinic times (appointment only) are available as follows: Monday and Friday 8.00am 10.30am Wednesday (nurse-led) 8.00am 10.30am Please note that waiting times for phlebotomy services are longer first thing in the morning. It would be useful if you could advise patients of this and encourage them to attend after 10.00am wherever possible. As the phlebotomy service closes at 3.30pm, patients will not have bloods taken if they arrive after this time. Disabled parking is available on the lower ground floor of Hospital. Patients can book a space prior to their appointment by phoning 0161 413 7700. Bus, train and tram The hospital is less than a 10 minute walk away from the main bus, train and tram interchange.
