President: 2016-2017 Dianne Lucas Presidents Report October 18th 2016 Greetings everyone, Last week we were pleased to welcome John Leadbeater a member of the Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges. As sergeant of his club and together with David Murray, they managed to extract some money from our members through fines from everyone present. John also spoke of his own club. And the many projects they have organised, especially the one on Cup Day, November the 1 st. We all look forward to a great day raising money for the Rotary Club of Eltham s Aquabox..Due to the latest horrific events in Haiti, pure water will be greatly appreciated. Tuesday 18 th, Gloria Hargreaves from Rotarians Against Malaria RAMS will be speaking about the ongoing fight against such a debilitating disease. This is such a worthwhile and necessary project and I know they will always have our support. The local schools in our area are now responding to our offer of $500 per school for either library or assisting students. Ian Sloane Principal of Mitcham Primary School has already agreed to speak to us and accept our donation. We look forward to meeting representatives from the other six schools in the near future. On Sunday October 23 rd. our new carpet will be installed at the Op-Shop. To those Rotarians and Op-Shop staff who volunteered to help move goods, a big thank you. Don t forget our last meeting for 2016 will be our breakfast meeting at Natalie s 7.00am for a 7.30am start on Tuesday 13 th. of December. I hope everyone can attend and enjoy some fellowship.
