Primary Purpose The Dental Assistant supports the Dental Therapist in clinical assistance, infection control and administration to provide a high quality dental service for children and adolescents in the Bay of Plenty.
Key Responsibilities Outcomes Clinical Assistance Directly assists Dental Therapists at the chairside in providing oral health care, thereby improving the experience for patients and improving the quality of outcomes Complying with legislation BOP DHB service specific policies and procedures. Infection Control Completes delegated routine infection control processes as per service and NZ Dental Council requirements. Performs basic equipment maintenance, environmental cleanliness, disinfection and/or sterility which includes the daily cleaning of the mobile dental units for mobile staff as per the cleaning schedule. Administration Completes administrative activities within scope that are required for service delivery and service provision. Stock levels of consumables, stationery and resources are maintained within agreed parameters for service provision. Team Member Individual responsibilities, actions and contributions enhance the success of the area/service/team and division. Health and Safety Participates in and compies with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and associated BOP DHB policies. Appropriate CPR certificate is maintained. Risk Minimisation and Quality Actively contributes to risk management and quality activities within the service. Training is signed off as required and reviewed at Annual Performance Development Appropriate CPR certificate is attained and maintained.
