Loyal Order of Moose #1939-Women of the Moose #1620 Third Quarter Newsletter July-September, 2013 GREENVILLE MOOSE LODGE & FAMILY CENTER Swing for Kids INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Danish Festival Lodge Activities 2 Premier Lodge Award 2 Calendar 3-5 Thank you from Jim Armstrong Are you ready for some golf?!! The 17th Annual Moose Lodge 1939 Swing for Kids Golf Scramble is fast approaching. This year s fundraiser will be July 27, 2013 at Brookside Golf & Grill located in lovely Gowen, MI. Last year we raised more than $8,000 for the kids at Mooseheart and for the Lodge. We are limiting this event to the first 36 teams entered. Last year, we had 32½ teams. This year we anticipate a full house. The entry fee is only $200 per team. We will have a team prize for the lowest score and 3 blind draws for money. Everyone has a chance to win money in our tournament. We will have drawings for a gas grill and a minifridge. Plus many, many, more door prizes. Then we all go back to the air conditioned Moose Lodge for a well-deserved, sit down dinner. All of this for only $200 per team. Signup sheets are at the Moose or call Gary Templar @ 616-754-8202. Get your team entry in early! See everyone there. Jim Armstrong would like to extend his thanks for all those members that have supported him and the Lodge throughout the years. He sends a heartfelt thank you to those that hosted and all that attended his retirement festivities. Moose Go the Distance Campaign Our Year of Celebration has begun! Four milestone events will happen during this Moose fiscal year the 125th Anniversary of the Loyal Order of Moose; the 100th Anniversary of the Women of the Moose; the 100th Anniversary of the Moose Legion; and the 100th Anniversary of Mooseheart, our school and residential campus for children and teens in need. In recognition of these once-in-a-lifetime events, we are asking each lodge, chapter, Moose Legion and member to GO THE DISTANCE and make this the most memorable year in Moose history. Our first goal is to grow the membership! That s right-$0 application fees all year long from May 1, 2013 April 30, 2014! This applies to all Loyal Order of Moose, Women of the Moose and Moose Legion applications. There is no longer a reason to wait to bring new members into our fraternity. Now Serving Sunday s The Lodge is now hosting Sunday dinners from Noon-6:00 p.m. The menu will vary weekly.

Sign two - get next year's dues for free! Greenville Family Moose Lodge Selected as Premier Lodge Greenville Moose Lodge Earns Premier Lodge Award! What a neat feeling. Only 5 lodges in the Michigan Moose Association earned this coveted award this year. We will officially be presented this award at the annual state convention in August. How did Greenville earn this very elusive award? We have 7 areas in reporting that need to be done to earn this award. Some are actually easy because it just requires someone to transmit the paper work and some require a concerted effort by the membership. The 7 steps for this award follow. Congratulations! 2013-2014 Premier Lodge Award Criteria During the year beginning May 1, 2013 -April 30, 2014, in order to earn the Premier Lodge Award the Lodge must: 1). Increase Active Membership; 2). Increase in Endowment Fund donations; or Lodge per capita contributions to the Endowment Fund; 3). Submit all Community Service Reports by established deadlines; 4). Submit all Lodge Safety Inspection Forms by established deadlines; 5). Indebtedness on the monthly Moose International Consolidated Billing Statement is less at April 30, 2014 than the balance due shown on the May of 2013 statement; 6). Submission of Moose of the Year nomination form by established deadline; 7). Transmit the April 30, 2014, monthly financial reports by May 10, 2014. ***At the discretion of the General Governor, a Lodge may be disqualified from earning the Premiere Lodge Award for failing to abide by our General Laws, including, but not limited to, failure to be represented at the International Moose Convention.
