We are pleased to announce the addition of two new Assistant Coaches to the team: John Freeman, Assistant Coach John has competed in both club and summer swimming for 12 years. John will be graduating from New Rochelle High School this year and will swim this fall, at Providence College. John was previously a head guard at the Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, where he worked for 3 years. He was a 6 year member of the NRHS Varsity Swim Team, helping to lead the team as captain in his senior year, to a 3rd place finish at the New York State meet. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and a proud member of the Best Buddies Organization, which he hopes to continue in college. He is really excited and is looking forward to having a great summer coaching at Coveleigh! World Team Tennis - Date: Saturday, June 10 Time: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Fee: $15/member Family Tennis Fun Day - Smash Zone Date: Sunday, June 18 - Time: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Cost: $25 per family Junior Color Wars - Date: Sunday, June 25 Time: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM - Cost: $20 per player TIPS OF THE MONTH When playing badly, return to the basics, such as watching the ball, bending the knees, preparing the racquet early, hitting the ball out in front of you, following through, and thinking clearly. Gut out every point and concentrate harder on important points. This may sound obvious but many players do not 'gut' it out or 'hang in' long enough. The best players manage to motivate themselves to take one point at a time and fight back despite setbacks. Kerby Lewis, Assistant Coach Kerby is a swimming enthusiast who returns to coaching after a 4 year hiatus to pursue a career in nursing. Kerby has over 10 years of experience coaching at clubs in the Westchester County area including; Winged Foot Golf Club, The Apawamis Club, Wykagyl Country Club and Larchmont Shore Club. Kerby swam at Davenport Beach Club during her summer swimming career. Kerby went on to swim at Northeastern University in Boston, MA and Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. Kerby is currently employed as a school nurse and is looking forward to jumping back into the water at Coveleigh this summer! Mark your calendars to attend the Parent Information meeting on Wednesday, June 14th in the Cove at 5:45 PM. Metro Swim Shop will be on site selling caps, goggles and the team suit.
